There is never a dull moment in Ms. Johnson's PK Math Class.

Our youngest campers have been busy counting money, recognizing coins, writing numbers, developing pencil skills, and exploring tangrams that strengthen early geometry, spatial reasoning, and problem solving skills. Every activity is designed to build confidence while showing our campers that math can be fun, creative, and part of everyday life.

Just look at the smiles on these happy campers. Their excitement, curiosity, and sense of accomplishment shine through in every photo.

A special thank you to Ms. Johnson for creating a classroom where learning is hands on, engaging, and filled with encouragement. At Camp TKP, our campers are building more than math skills. They are developing confidence, independence, and a love of learning that will benefit them long after summer ends.

We are so proud of our PK campers and grateful for teachers who make each day at Camp TKP meaningful.

One of the things that makes Camp TKP so special is the opportunity for our campers to learn life skills in fun, meaningful ways!

Our middle school campers recently completed Ms. Sam's Etiquette Class, where they learned valuable skills they'll carry with them long after camp. From understanding menus and practicing proper table manners to learning formal dining etiquette and building confidence through presentations, each lesson prepared them for real-life situations.

The class concluded with a special Etiquette Waffle Breakfast, where campers put everything they had learned into practice while enjoying a meal together.

We are so thankful for teachers like Ms. Sam, who also serve as our camp counselors and invest in our campers each summer. Experiences like these help build confidence, character, respect, and life skills that extend far beyond camp.

We're so proud of our middle school campers and grateful for the amazing staff who make opportunities like this possible.

There's nothing better than learning from and celebrating the heroes in our community! We are so grateful to the Galveston Fire Department and a special thank you to Fire Engine #4 for visiting Camp TKP today and helping us wrap up Helping Heroes Week with smiles, laughter, and a cool splash to beat the heat!

Helping Heroes Week at Camp TKP!

This week, our TOR Kids campers are discovering that heroes are all around us! During Helping Heroes Week, campers are learning what it means to be kind, helpful, and make a difference through teamwork, compassion, and everyday acts of kindness.

We’re excited to celebrate all the ways our campers are seeing themselves as helpful heroes and recognizing the impact they can have on others.

A special hero visit is coming our way! Fire Engine #4 will be joining us on site, giving campers the opportunity to see a fire engine up close, learn more about our local heroes, and even get sprayed with the hose from the top of the ladder!

🍄 Food FUNdamentals Highlight: Fungi! 🍄
This week, our TOR Prep campers explored the fascinating world of fungi and discovered why mushrooms are so much more than just food!
They learned that fungi are:
🌳 Connectors – forming the "Wood Wide Web" that helps plants and trees communicate.
🛡️ Protectors – acting as an early warning system for forests.
♻️ Recyclers – cleaning up our environment through mycoremediation.
🌎 Responders – serving as Earth's natural medics by restoring damaged ecosystems.
Our campers also grew pink oyster, pearl oyster, and lion's mane mushrooms, learning how these incredible fungi are cultivated, enjoyed as nutritious foods, and valued for their health benefits.
One of the most important lessons of the week focused on mushroom safety. While many mushrooms are edible, others are highly toxic. Every camper left knowing one important rule: NEVER pick or eat wild mushrooms!
We are incredibly fortunate to have our very own doctor on staff to lead this exciting lesson! As a family practice physician, Dr. Bethany Powell brings real-world medical expertise and a passion for science education to Camp TKP each summer. Her hands-on approach helps campers build curiosity, confidence, and respect for the natural world while making learning both fun and memorable.

🦖 What an AWESOME last day of Prehistoric Pals Week at Camp TKP! 💜

We wrapped up an incredible week with a VERY special guest, Ms. Gorgeousaurus! She stomped in to say hello, and our campers absolutely LOVED her visit! There were so many smiles, laughs, hugs, and unforgettable memories made.

We're sure you'll be hearing all about Ms. Gorgeousaurus and her prehistoric adventure when your campers get home today! Thank you for another amazing week filled with fun, imagination, and friendship.
