We're so grateful to work with our community partners to expand our student's experiences! Our first-year veterinary technology students had the opportunity to work with Stevens Veterinary Clinic and the Black Hawk College Equestrian Program this week to learn about physical examinations, vaccinations, and blood draws in horses.

Had a great time bringing a group of first- and second-year students to the MVVMA continuing education meeting this week. This smaller local meeting is such a great introduction to what organized veterinary medicine looks like in practice.

It’s one thing to learn in the classroom, but seeing veterinarians and technicians come together to share knowledge, discuss cases, and support each other really shows the collaborative side of our profession. The MVVMA meeting is always a welcoming environment and a perfect place for students early in their training to start building connections and understanding the broader professional community.

Proud of these students for taking the time to engage outside the classroom and excited to see them grow into the future of veterinary medicine.

This special event was all about supporting Henry County Humane Society- Kewanee, IL, while celebrating the amazing students from our Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA). Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication truly shined as they helped teach kids about veterinary care—one teddy bear at a time.

Thank you to our incredible students for your hard work and big hearts, and to everyone who came out to support the shelter and this meaningful cause. Community, education, and kindness all wrapped into one unforgettable day!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of our second-year students as they complete their third semester of school. This term was filled with many strong hours of learning through engaging lectures and hands-on labs that challenged and strengthened their skills. Along the way, there were moments of real stress, including the added hurdle of having no internet in our building for the final two weeks, our students showed resilience, adaptability, and determination. Their hard work truly paid off, and it is exciting to see so many required skills successfully signed off. Congratulations to each of you on this well-earned achievement and on the progress you continue to make toward your professional goals.

While the SCNAVTA club was able to enjoy Trick or Treat trail last night at school, Director Johnson and 1st year student Emma Evan’s are at the National FFA convention doing a lot of recruiting!
