CGES Dismissal Procedures

Please note: this will only happen at regular dismissal time.

Drop-Off, PreK Early Dismissals (11:00 & 12:30) and dismissal from After School will continue to take place in the front of the school.

We appreciate you being flexible and patient as we work to make dismissal safer for our students.

What is the ASQ?
The Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is a simple developmental screening tool that helps us learn how your child is growing and developing.

The questionnaire asks about skills your child may be developing in areas such as:

🧠 Thinking and learning
🗣️ Communication
🏃 Movement and physical skills
👨‍👩‍👧 Social-emotional skills
✋ Everyday self-help skills
The ASQ is not a test and there are no right or wrong answers. It is simply a way for parents and educators to see what skills a child is currently demonstrating and whether there are areas where the child may benefit from additional support or practice.

Parents know their children best! Your observations and answers help us get a better picture of your child's development.

If the ASQ identifies an area of concern, it does not mean that something is wrong. It simply helps us know when it may be helpful to take a closer look or provide additional support.

🚗 IMPORTANT CGES DISMISSAL UPDATE 🚗

We are making some changes to our afternoon dismissal process at Canton-Galva Elementary to help make dismissal safer, more organized, and more efficient for everyone.

**There are NO CHANGES for morning drop-off, this will only affect Dismissal at the end of the school day.

📍 Please review the attached dismissal map carefully before coming to pick up your child.

Here’s what you need to know:

➡️ Enter behind the blue shed and pull all the way around to join the dismissal line.

➡️ Pull forward (there will be a cone to note where the dismissal line begins. Kids will be dismissed in the order the cars at lined up. Wait there until your child is dismissed to your vehicle.

➡️ Please remain in your vehicle. Students will wait safely inside the building until staff dismiss them to their vehicle or bus.

➡️ Once your child is dismissed, please have them enter the vehicle quickly so we can keep traffic moving.

➡️ Exit by turning right onto Santa Fe Street. Please be mindful of bus traffic and students in this area.

**If you need to get out of your vehcile for any reason, please do so after you have picked up your child. There are parking spaces available off of Santa Fe Street.

🚌 BUS ONLY ZONE: The area directly in front of the school on Santa Fe Street is for buses only—no cars. Please be mindful if busses are loading and their stop sign is out--cars will have to stop and wait until students are safely loaded onto the bus.

💙 Our goal with these changes is to create a safer dismissal process for all of our students while keeping traffic moving as efficiently as possible.

UPDATE: Please note, this dismissal change only happens at our normal dismissal time (3:35 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday, and Fridays, and 2:35 on Wednesdays). All other dismissals--PreK3s @ 11:00, PreK4s @ 12:30, and after school pick up will take place at the front of the school as usual.
