Today, Gallup-McKinley County Schools kicked off another exciting school year, and we couldn't be happier to welcome our students, staff, and families back!
From the first bell to smiling faces in our classrooms and hallways, the energy and excitement of a new beginning filled our schools across the district. We look forward to a year of learning, growth, achievement, and unforgettable memories.
Here's to new opportunities, new friendships, and a successful school year for every student. Wishing all of our GMCS students, staff, and families an incredible 2026-2027 school year!

Welcome Home, Cougars!
We appreciate everyone coming out to the grand opening of the new Tohatchi High School! Your presence made this milestone even more meaningful as we marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our students, staff, and community. Thank you to everyone who has made this project possible. We are so excited for our students to start off the upcoming school year in their new facility!

As the new school year approaches, McKinley Academy is excited to welcome students back for orientation.
Orientation is your opportunity to pick up your class schedule, laptop, textbooks (where applicable), and school supplies, while getting ready for a successful start to the school year.
Orientation Schedule:
• Incoming 9th Grade: August 5 | 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | New McKinley Academy Building (West Side of Gurley Hall)
• Returning 10th Grade: August 12 | 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Calvin Hall Auditorium
• New 10th, 11th & 12th Grade Students: August 13 | 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Calvin Hall Auditorium
• Returning 11th & 12th Grade Students: August 11-14 | 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Calvin Hall, Room 100
We look forward to seeing all of our students as we prepare for another great year. Classes begin Monday, August 17.
