🎶 The right music teacher can make all the difference. 🎶

Every student learns differently—and finding a teacher who connects with your child is an important part of helping music take root.

One of the benefits of learning at Honett Studio is our faculty of teachers with different backgrounds, strengths, and teaching styles. This allows us to help families find a good fit based on a student's age, experience, learning style, goals, personality, and schedule.

Whether your child is picking up an instrument for the very first time or is ready to take their playing to the next level, we're currently welcoming new students for fall private lessons:

Students also become part of our larger studio community, with two recitals each year giving them opportunities to perform, celebrate their progress, and connect with other young musicians.

🎹 “My child wants to learn piano…but are they ready for lessons?”

For many 4- and 5-year-olds, the answer may be yes—but they need a different kind of piano lesson.

That's exactly what Piano Moves is designed to provide.

Rather than expecting young children to sit at the piano for an entire traditional lesson, Piano Moves combines early keyboard exploration with movement, rhythm, listening, singing, and musicianship—all designed with young learners in mind.

And with a maximum of just 6 students, children get the fun of learning alongside friends while still receiving plenty of individual attention.

📚 Two Literacy Coaching Scholarships Available for Gallia County Children 📚

We’re excited to offer two 12-week Literacy Coaching scholarships this fall for Gallia County children ages 6–9 who are struggling with reading.

Thanks to support from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, the Gallipolis First Presbyterian Church, in partnership with Honett Studio, is able to make individualized, high-quality literacy instruction available to two local families at a greatly reduced cost.

Each scholarship includes:

• 12 weekly, individualized 30–45 minute Literacy Coaching sessions
• A family cost of just $10 per session ($120 for the full 12 weeks)
• Individualized work in areas such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and reading confidence
• Guidance for parents in supporting their child’s reading at home

These scholarships are intended for children who are experiencing difficulty with reading and for families for whom the regular cost of private instruction would be difficult. No financial documentation is required.

Families should be prepared to make regular attendance and reading at home a priority. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on reading need, financial need, and the family’s ability to participate consistently.

🎶 Our homeschool music group is beginning to take shape—and there's room for your child!

We already have students registered for this fall's Homeschool Chorus & Musicianship, and we'd love to add a few more young musicians to the group before we begin September 15.

This isn't just a choir class. It's two hours each week set aside for homeschool students ages 5–12 to make music together—singing, moving, working with rhythm and percussion, improvising, learning how music works, and building the skills to become confident musicians.

And just as importantly, it's a chance to be part of a consistent, collaborative group of other homeschool kids.

Designed especially for ages 4–5, Piano Moves gives young children a joyful, developmentally appropriate introduction to piano and musicianship—before jumping straight into traditional private lessons.

Using dynamic curriculum developed by Integral Steps, Piano Moves combines movement, singing, rhythm, creative games, improvisation, and time at the piano to help children:

🎵 Build a strong musical foundation
🎹 Develop beginning piano skills and vocabulary
🥁 Experience rhythm and tonal patterns with their whole bodies
🎼 Begin preparing to read and understand music

🎶 Welcome Mina Lee to Honett Studio!

We’re delighted to welcome Mina Lee to the Honett Studio faculty this fall!

Mina is an accomplished pianist and dedicated music educator with more than 20 years of teaching and performance experience. Her musical career has taken her across the United States, Korea, and Europe as both a soloist and collaborative pianist, and she has taught students from developing young musicians through the university level.

At Honett Studio, Mina will be offering:
