This past spring, Orlando Rivera was hired by Frank and Velma Brinkley to restore the deck at their home. After learning about the ongoing restoration of the Cairo Rosenwald School, Orlando knew he wanted to help preserve this important piece of Sumner County history.

He generously volunteered his time, donated approximately $1,000 in building materials, and used his talent to completely rebuild the school's accessibility ramp. His attention to detail, professionalism, and quality of work have made a lasting impact.

The Cairo Improvement Club would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Orlando for his generosity and dedication to preserving this historic site.

While this is an exciting milestone, there is still much work to be done. Restoration efforts continue, and every donation brings us one step closer to fully reopening the Cairo Rosenwald School to the public.

It has been a while since we shared an update on restoration progress, and we are excited to say that great things are happening!

Thanks to the generosity of so many donors, the Cairo Improvement Club has been hard at work on several improvement projects. One major project has been in the works, and we can’t wait to share more details with you very soon.

We’d like to give a special thank you to Steven Wilkerson of Robertson County for his generous donation of composite wood. Because of his support, we now have the materials needed to restore the accessibility ramp at the back of the school and the front steps.
