Today, we’re celebrating Dr. Ines Petrovic Garcia, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and Honors Program Director, and the first-ever recipient of the Patsy Lawson Teaching Excellence Award.

This award honors a legacy of dedication, care, and student-centered excellence. Dr. Petrovic Garcia brings that legacy to life every day through engaging classrooms, meaningful mentorship, and a commitment to helping students grow and succeed.

From revitalizing the Honors Program to expanding opportunities for transformative learning, her work is helping students see what’s possible and take the next step toward their goals.

Her impact continues beyond the classroom through leadership of Phi Theta Kappa and national recognition as an Alex Trebek Legacy Fellow, an honor awarded to just 18 faculty members nationwide.

Jaydah Rainey is headed to the 2026 WBB JUCO All-American Camp this week in Florida and becomes just the 4th Lady Pioneer since 2014 to earn this honor.

She earned it. Led the conference in rebounding, stacked multiple 20/20 games, and came just one vote shy of Freshman of the Year.

Next stop: Georgia Gwinnett College, where she’ll continue her career at the next level this fall!
