Today we read Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes….We had SO much fun with Pete while sneaking in tons of learning along the way! 💙

We talked about the different colors in the story and brainstormed things we see in the real world that are those colors. We identified our characters and setting, then drew them! We are learning to look closely at the details in pictures to help us figure out where a story takes place. We worked on recalling the order of events and retelling what happened to Pete’s shoes throughout the story.

🧠 Higher-Order Thinking: We even had to think about WHY Pete’s shoes kept changing colors and explain our thinking!

It’s amazing how one favorite story can turn into SO many learning opportunities! And, of course, our friends LOVE every opportunity they get to read about Pete! 🐾👟❤️💙💚💛

Shape Bootcamp: We have officially started our Shape Bootcamp! Each day we will focus on a new shape. We practice drawing the shape, talk about things we see in the real world that are that shape, and add pictures to our very own Shapes Book! Today, we even used the pictures in Pete’s story to find and discuss shapes!

Let’s talk Phonics & Math Centers!

I LOVE a good themed center! ❤️ But these centers are about so much more than just being cute and fun. 😉 So, what is the purpose of these centers?

These centers are not meant to be hard. They are designed to be activities that students can complete independently while reinforcing skills they have already learned! Instead of always grabbing a worksheet, we can grab a center and practice those same skills in a much more hands-on and engaging way. Our centers work on SO many important skills, including:

✔️Phonics & letter recognition
✔️Number recognition
✔️One-to-one correspondence
✔️Matching
✔️Fine motor skills
✔️Visual discrimination
✔️Problem-solving
✔️Following directions
✔️Independence & confidence

And the best part? They think they’re just playing! Hands-on learning gives our little learners an opportunity to practice, repeat, and master skills without feeling like they are sitting down to complete “school work.”

The goal is simple: Practice skills they already know, build independence, and HAVE FUN while learning! 🫶

🌈🔷 What a magical way to kick off our Colors & Shapes unit! 🔶💜

A HUGE thank you to Mirabel and Character Visits 4 U for coming to visit us! ✨ We had so much fun exploring her beautiful dress and finding all sorts of colors and shapes hidden throughout it!

Mirabel read us her story, then we danced along to her song 💃🎶 and she even helped us with our shape books!

We had the BEST time learning with our special guest! Thank you, Mirabel, for making our first day of Colors & Shapes so much fun! 💕🌈

🎉 EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉

We are SO excited to announce two of our weekly enrichment classes that will be offered at Premier Academy!

🤸‍♀️ Monday Mornings:
Gymnastics with Mrs. Tonie
🥋 Friday Mornings:
Kid Balanced Karate with Master Bryant

These classes will be offered as optional opportunities for students who choose to enroll, and there will be an additional cost to participate.

We are thrilled to bring these fun, engaging experiences right to our students!

And we’re not done yet! 👀 Stay tuned for TWO more classes we are currently working on securing for Tuesdays and Thursdays!

We can’t wait to share all of the exciting things we have planned for our Premier Academy students! 🩵🎉

That’s a wrap on our Back to School theme! ✏️ And what better way to end it than with a visit to “big kid” school! 🏫❤️

A HUGE thank you to Dr. Reynolds and all of the amazing teachers at Liberty Creek Elementary for welcoming us in and allowing our preschoolers to tour their school! We had SO much fun exploring and learning about all the exciting things that happen at elementary school.

We got to visit the art room, music room, gym, cafeteria, library, and front office, meet the SRO, and even step inside a kindergarten and 2nd grade classroom! We also had a very special surprise when we ran into Mrs. Krissi’s son, Zane! 🥰

And of course, we had to find out what everyone’s favorite part was!

I absolutely LOVE giving our little learners experiences like this and helping them see that “big kid” school is an exciting place full of new things to learn and explore! ❤️❤️

Yesterday we read The Crayons Go Back to School 🖍️ We completed a written response about which crayon color we would be. Each student wrote the color word, drew pictures of things that are that color, and shared how that color made them feel.

Then we got creative with a fun crayon art activity! 🎨 We used our paint sticks to introduce types of lines while making our very own colorful artwork. I love watching their creativity grow while they build those important early writing and fine-motor skills!

One of my favorite lessons is with the book The Jelly Donut Difference! 🍩 We talked all about kindness and the many ways we can make a difference in someone’s day.

We wrote about ways we could “sprinkle kindness” throughout our classroom, created the cutest puffy paint donuts, and then we just HAD to put our lesson into action with a trip to Holy Moly Doughnuts! 🍩😋
