Second Grade’s Shape Robots are starting to come to life!

After reading a story about a robot coming unplugged to find a whole world to adventure, students were tasked with their robot brainstorm page. They had to create a robot with a minimum of four different shapes, name it and give the robot a function that could help them!

From time traveling, to doing chores, to being a friend to talk to these 🤖 will be full of personality in no time!

K/1 reviewed color theory in such an engaging way this week.

After reading Dr. Seuss’ “My Many Colored Days” we discussed how colors in artwork can show feelings and emotions. Students loved sharing how various colors make them feel.

We then reviewed our “super hero” primary colors and how they can be mixed to make new colors! Every little artist got to explore the color mixing magic happen on their own pallets. As always, we review painting techniques. 1. gripping a paintbrush is just like holding a pencil 2. gently paint across the page like a ballerina on her tip toes. -this really sticks with them!🩰

After painting their own color wheel, kiddos had a free paint day to paint how they were feeling.

It was CLAY DAY for my k/1 this week!

We began learning a bit about clay..Where it comes from, how to make it, and the process of a finished piece of pottery.

Ended each class period with the most precious little pinch pots. They are SO pumped to glaze them in a couple weeks!
