📣 Medication Reminder for Parents & Guardians

Good evening, Tiger families! 🐯

We want to remind everyone of our district’s medication policy. We have seen an increase in medications being brought to school in student backpacks and students carrying or taking prescription medications without the required authorization on file.

For the safety of all students, all medications must be brought to and picked up from school by an adult. Please do not send cough drops, Tylenol, creams, prescription medications, or any other medication to school with your child in their backpack.

Medications must be approved and handled according to district policy before they can be administered at school.

If you have questions or need clarification, please contact your building nurse.

Big kids, little buddies, and lots of reading! 📚🐯

Mrs. Guy’s 5th graders visited Mrs. Gardner’s 1st grade classroom for some reading buddy time! We love seeing our older Tigers lead by example and share their love of reading with our younger Tigers! 🧡

Our 4th graders have been making music, one layer at a time! 🎶

They explored sheet music and new musical terms, added student-led hand motions, sang in a round, and layered in FOUR instrument parts while singing!

After recording a few performances, students listened and chose the one they thought sounded best. They also explored how major and minor keys affect a song’s mood, so if this tune sounds a little sad, that’s the minor key at work!

We’re proud of their teamwork and excited to share their performance! 🧡💙

📢 BACKPACK PROGRAM PICKUP UPDATE

Due to the Columbus Day holiday, Community Action will be closed on Monday, October 12.

Families who are signed up for the Weekend Backpack Program will need to pick up their child’s backpack meal on:

📢 IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF STUDENTS WITH FOOD ALLERGIES
If you have listed a food allergy or dietary restriction in Final Forms, please be aware that updated doctor documentation is required each school year in order for Galion City School Foodservice to provide meal substitutions.
📧 An email was sent on September 25 to families who have a food allergy or dietary need listed in Final Forms and who still need to provide updated documentation.
⚠️ Important Deadline: October 16, 2026
After October 16, meal substitutions will not be provided for students who do not have the required doctor documentation on file with the Foodservice Department.
This documentation is required by ODEW for meal substitutions and helps ensure we are meeting your child’s dietary needs while remaining in compliance with federal and state requirements.
