Sandburg TRIO Upward Bound

Upward Bound students recently visited Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and OSF College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois, where they were able to hear about the colleges, ask any questions they may have, and get a tour of the campuses. It is safe to say that we will be back to visit both in the future! Students really enjoyed the colleges and expressed interest in applying to both in the future.

Knox Prairie Community Kitchen will be hosting their Thanksgiving Meal tonight at the Ascent from 5:30-6:30 P.M.

FREE Thanksgiving meal! This is our only meal this month.

A look back to May 2025: Upward Bound graduating seniors from Class of 2025. We are so proud of our students! We have students at Sandburg, Illinois State University, New York University, Monmouth College, University of Minnesota, and many more. You guys did a great job sticking with it all four years.

A look back at July: UB students who met requirements were able to participate in an educational and cultural trip to New York City where students visited Princeton University, Columbia University, learned more about 9/11 at the Memorial and Museum, were able to go whale watching, visit the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, take a river boat tour of the city, and so much more.

Galesburg High School seniors in band, color guard, gadets, and cheer were honored last Friday at the home football game against Rock Island. We are so proud of our UB students.

Class of 2026- Senior Night is coming up next week!! We will provide assistance for FAFSA completion and so much more! Food also provided!

Each student & guardian must create a FSA ID at least 48 hours prior to October 23. Visit studentaid.gov to create your FSA ID. *Both the student & one guardian need a FSA ID.

Admission representatives from Carl Sandburg College, Monmouth College , Knox College, Western Illinois University, Bradley University, and St. Ambrose will also be available!

Upward Bound and Sandburg Upward Bound Math-Science students volunteered at Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank last night. Students worked incredibly hard and one table alone packed over 4000 diapers to be sent out. We are always grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community!

Upward Bound had several students showcase their work at the Galesburg Community Arts Center for their Merging into the Future 2025 Exhibit. Artwork by Vainqueur, Evan, Jayden, and Miley could be found on display. We have many talented artists in Upward Bound. Well done and congratulations to all! And last but not lease an extra shout out to Jayden for winning runner up for the whole exhibition.
