St. Luke Grins & Giggles Preschool Our nonprofit preschool provides affordable education compliant with CT Common Core standards. St. We offer a two, three or five day a week program.

Luke Grins & Giggles Preschool follows the sound principles of child development and practices quality programming that is age and individually appropriate. Our goals are to give children a sense of self-worth by helping them develop at their own pace while learning basic skills. We want children to feel confident and secure enough to explore and grow in a stimulating educational and social enviro

nment. We are committed to promoting and supporting all aspects of your child's growth in an atmosphere of respect. Your child is an individual who is an integral member of this group, and whose uniqueness is acknowledged by that group. Research shows that children develop best in stimulating environments that enrich the child's natural growth. During our program, your child will participate in a variety of individual and group activities designed to develop language and reading readiness skills enhancing physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual skills and attitudes that will increase their ability to succeed in school. School operates September through June from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration is $25 and tuition is $225 monthly for two days; $300 monthly for three days and $475 monthly for five days a week. Our Director/Head teacher comes with 45 years experience and a Masters in Early Childhood Education. The class size is small to allow for more personal attention and individual student growth. Children toilet trained ages 3, 4 or 5 are accepted from any town and any faith. If a child is turning three during the fall, he/she will be accepted into the fall class. We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged and interested in what they are doing. The activities we provide are open-ended, hands-on, process oriented, allowing us to individualize curriculum for children's interests and experiences. Bi-weekly we present a different theme and outside speakers are incorporated into the school setting to enhance the themes. We celebrate children's birthdays and school holidays. ☀️SPLASHING INTO SUMMER: A LOOK BACK AT OUR SAND & SEA ADVENTURES! 🌊🐠

What an exciting few weeks we’ve had in our MWF classroom as we explored all things sand and sea and wrapped up the year with sunshine, stories, creativity, and celebration.

Our friends loved diving into ocean-themed tales like The Rainbow Fish, Inky the Octopus, Sammy the Seahorse, and Maisy Makes Lemonade, along with the silly favorite The Watermelon Seed. These stories sparked big conversations about friendship, courage, helping others, and trying new things.

To bring our learning to life, the children created:
☀️Paper Plate Suns that’s brightened our room
🍦Ice Cream Name Crafts to practice letters in the sweetest way.
🍉Tissue Paper Watermelon Halves inspired by our storytime.
🏖️ Construction Paper Beach Balls full of color and creativity.

We also celebrated two special summer birthdays, filling our classroom with extra smiles, songs, and joy.

And of course… we ended our adventures with a big congratulations to our preschool graduates! 🎓✨
We are so proud of how much each child has grown- in confidence, curiosity, kindness, and independence. Watching them shine this year has been the greatest gift!

What a spectacular and memorable week in our T/TH class! We celebrated Memorial Day with an incredible Patriotic theme unit and a very special outdoor adventure.

Here is a look at the highlights from our action-packed week:

Red, White, and Blue Creativity 🇺🇸✨
Our classroom was full of patriotic pride as the children dove into themed arts and crafts. To practice fine motor control and pattern making, the students worked diligently threading red, white, and blue beads. We also created beautiful star-spangled crafts, using plenty of stars to celebrate. It was a wonderful way to talk about community, symbols, and working together.

Fun on the Farm! 🚜🐐🐓
The biggest highlight of the week was our highly anticipated field trip to the Waterford Country Day School farm! The children were absolutely thrilled to step out of the classroom and into nature. They had the wonderful opportunity to get up close and interact with the farm animals, learning about how they are cared for and practicing gentleness and kindness with our furry and feathered friends.

Picnic & Playground Fun at Leary Park 🧺🛝🌳
After all our hard work exploring the farm, we kept the outdoor fun going by heading over to Leary Park. The children loved sitting together for a beautiful, sunshine-filled picnic lunch. Afterward, they burned off some energy playing all over the park playground, scaling the structures, and swinging with their friends. It was the absolute perfect way to celebrate our tight-knit classroom community and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.

We could not have asked for a better way to conclude our weeks together. Watching these children grow, explore, and support one another on our adventures has been the greatest joy!

We traded our school shoes for "flip-flops" as we dived headfirst into our final thematic unit of the year! ☀️🌊 From May 12th to May 21st, our T/TH classroom transformed into a sunny beach oasis for our Sand and Sea unit.

Here is a look at our ocean-sized adventures:

Under the Sea Masterpieces 🎨🐡
Our art center was swimming with texture and color! The children tapped into their creativity to make puffer fish using bubble wrap with paper spikes. We also crafted handprint fish on popsicle sticks for some fun puppet play, and turned beach treasures into adorable seashell crabs. To top it all off, everyone created their own unique fishbowl art, complete with real gravel glued at the bottom!

Sensory Science & Shell Sorting 🐚💎
Our sensory and math stations were a major highlight this week. In the sensory table, the children loved exploring real fish tank gravel and miniature sea animals, burying the creatures, scooping the gravel, and feeling the unique texture. They also worked hard sorting a wide variety of seashells by size, shape, and pattern. These hands-on activities are a fantastic way to practice early math, classification, and fine motor skills.

Predictions, Observations, & Reel Fun 🔬🎣
We put on our scientist hats to play Sink or Float! The children had a blast making predictions about which items would stay on top and which would drop to the bottom, practicing their observation skills as they watched the results. We also kept our energy high by practicing our fishing skills with a fun coordination game, casting our lines and reeling in the "catch of the day!"

Building Adventures & Splashing Into Summer 🧱😎
Over in the blocks center, the kids combined Legos and sea creatures to build incredible underwater cities and coral reefs. As our school year winds down, this unit was the perfect way to channel everyone's sunny energy. We read stories about the deep blue sea, sang silly songs, and talked about all the exciting things we look forward to doing at the beach this summer.

We are so incredibly proud of how much these little explorers have grown, learned, and bonded over the course of the year. Our final weeks together are proving to be an absolute splash!

There was so much love, gratitude, and top-secret crafting in our T/TH classroom! 💕 From May 5th to May 7th, our students dove into a heartwarming Mother’s Day unit to celebrate the special women in their lives.

Here is a look at our highlights:

Top-Secret Masterpieces 🎨🤫
Our art table was a hub of undercover creativity! The children worked with absolute dedication on their special Mother's Day gifts and cards. From carefully selecting colors to pouring their hearts into every stroke of paint, they took so much pride in creating something beautiful. They were all very serious about keeping their projects a surprise until the big day!

Fine Motor Flowers & Love 🌸
In addition to their gifts, the students practiced their fine motor skills with beautiful spring flower crafts. We used these activities to talk about all the kind, loving, and helpful things our moms do for us every day. The sweet answers from the children reminded us just how much they adore their families!

A Special Mystery Visitor! 🕵️‍♂️🧱
The absolute highlight of our week was a visit from a Mystery Parent Visitor! Instead of just popping in, our special guest spent the entire morning playing right alongside us during center time. Whether they were building in the block area, joining in on pretend play, or exploring our classroom stations, the children were absolutely thrilled to share their favorite school activities with a parent.

We had such a joyful week focusing on family, kindness, and appreciation. We hope all of our wonderful T/TH moms feel incredibly loved and celebrated! 💐

Our MWF classroom has been joyfully celebrating Mother’s Day through hands‑on learning, creativity, and special moments together!
This week, the children explored what makes their moms so important and unique. They created heartfelt Mother’s Day cards, drawing pictures and dictating sweet descriptions about what they love most about their moms. The class also planted flowers as a special gift, learning how to gently scoop soil, water, and care for something that will continue to grow—just like the love they share with their families.

We were honored to welcome a special guest, Pastor Mike, who joined us to share a story and lead the children in songs on his guitar. The children listened with excitement and sang along, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.

Throughout the week, we read favorite Mother’s Day books such as "Just Me and My Mom" and "The Night Before Mother’s Day". These stories helped spark conversations about family traditions, special memories, and all the ways moms help us feel loved and cared for.

It was a week filled with gratitude, creativity, and connection as the children prepared meaningful surprises for the wonderful mothers in their lives. ❤️💐

Our MWF preschool classroom has been joyfully exploring the season of spring through hands‑on creativity, storytelling, and lots of curiosity. To spark our learning, we read a collection of springtime favorites like "The Prettiest Flower", "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", and "Bumble the Bee". These stories helped the children notice how plants grow, how insects change, and how the world becomes brighter and busier as the weather warms.

Inspired by these books, the children created paper-plate bees, carefully adding stripes, wings, and cheerful faces, just like Bumble. They also made name caterpillars, connecting each letter of their name. They begun to learn how caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies while authoring and illustrating the metamorphosis process in their very own journals. 🐛🦋

Our paper tube frogs encouraged conversations about ponds, insects, and the animals that become active again as the days get sunnier.

Throughout these activities, the children observed, asked questions, and shared their own ideas about the new season. Their artwork, storytelling, and excitement showed how deeply they are connecting with the natural world blooming around them.

Our MWF preschool class has been busy learning all about recycling! ♻️ The children explored how everyday items like paper, plastic, and cardboard can be reused instead of thrown away. Through hands-on sorting activities, stories, and playful discussions, they discovered why taking care of our earth 🌎 is important and how even small choices can make a big difference. The class practiced sorting materials into the correct bins, created art using recycled items, and talked about ways they can help at home and school. The children were proud to become “Recycling Helpers,” showing growing responsibility, problem-solving, and care for their environment! ♻️❤️🌎

Spring has officially sprung in our T/TH classroom! 🌸🐝 From April 21st through April 30th, our little naturalists were busy exploring the wonders of life cycles and the tiny creatures that help our world grow.

Here are the highlights from our "Spring Things" unit:

Tadpoles to Frogs 🐸
The classroom was buzzing with excitement when a real tadpole came to visit! The children loved observing it swim and learning about the amazing transformation from a water-dweller to a hopping frog. It was a wonderful way to practice our observation skills and talk about how living things grow and change.

The Busy World of Honeybees 🐝🍯
We got an up-close look at the world of pollinators with a real (empty!) beehive! The children were fascinated by the intricate honeycomb patterns and learned all about how hard honeybees work to help our flowers and food grow. We even practiced our "buzzy" bee dances!

Caterpillars & Butterflies 🦋
We’ve been following the journey of the very hungry caterpillar! From tiny eggs to beautiful butterflies, the children explored the stages of metamorphosis through art and storytelling. Our classroom is now decorated with colorful butterfly masterpieces.

Building Nests 🪺
To understand how birds prepare for spring, we explored the engineering of nests. The children learned about the different materials birds collect—like twigs, mud, and dried grass—to create a safe home for their eggs.

Special Guest: Kat Dugan & Her Bug Friends! 🐜🐛
The absolute highlight of our unit was a visit from Kat Dugan! She brought along some incredible "bug friends" for us to meet. The children showed such bravery and curiosity as they learned about different insects, their unique features, and why they are so important to our ecosystem.

It has been a week of wonder, hands-on discovery, and a lot of "ewwws" and "ahhhhs!" We love seeing the students develop such a deep respect for the little creatures in our beautiful world.
