🇺🇸📜 A Heartfelt Thank You to Rita Kulley, Karen Peck, and everyone at the Chestertown Elks Lodge #2474📜🇺🇸

As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, we are grateful to the organizations and community members who generously donated copies of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution to each of our 5th grade students.

These historic documents are more than artifacts from our nation's past—they are living lessons that connect directly to what our students are learning in the classroom. In 5th grade social studies, students analyze the Declaration of Independence by examining the colonial policies that led to its creation, exploring core democratic principles such as natural rights and consent of the governed, and connecting the document's ideals to the shared political values that continue to shape our country today.

By providing students with their own copies, these donors have given them an opportunity to engage more deeply with the founding principles of our democracy and to better understand the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

Thank you for investing in the civic education of our students and helping inspire the next generation of informed, engaged citizens as we commemorate America's 250-year journey. 💙❤️🤍

🚜🐕🌳💉⚓💰 Career Day was an adventure! ⚓💰💉🌳🐕🚜

Today, our students explored a world of possibilities during Career Day! From protecting our natural resources to caring for patients, growing plants, sailing the Chesapeake, and serving our country, our presenters helped students discover that there are countless paths to a bright future.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who shared their time, expertise, and passion with our students:

🌲 Park Ranger
🚜 Farmer
🩻 X-Ray Technician
🦌 Department of Natural Resources Officer
🐕‍🦺 K-9 Police Officer
🩺 Nurse Practitioner
💰 Banker
📢 Communications Professional
🌻 Horticulture Specialist
🇺🇸 U.S. Army Recruiter
🌎 Missionary
💪 Physical Therapist
💙 Aspire Mental Health
⛵ Sailing Instructor

Our students asked thoughtful questions, learned new skills, and even began imagining what they might want to be when they grow up. Whether they dream of working outdoors, helping others, protecting their community, or exploring the world, today showed them that every career starts with curiosity, hard work, and a willingness to learn.

Thank you to all of our Career Day presenters for inspiring the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers, and difference-makers! 💙🐊

📚☀️ Learning, Leadership, and Service! ☀️📚

As our 5th graders wrapped up their final year at Galena Elementary, they completed a meaningful service-learning project that brought their learning full circle.

Students reflected on their early reading experiences and selected their favorite picture book from their younger years. After researching their chosen book and practicing their reading fluency, they had the opportunity to share their love of reading with some of our youngest learners.

Our 5th graders met with Pre-K students outdoors to read their favorite stories as the culminating activity for this project. It was a wonderful experience for both groups, creating connections across grade levels while fostering a love of literacy.

In addition to making special memories, students will earn service-learning hours for their work and dedication to this project. We are so proud of our 5th graders for demonstrating leadership, kindness, and a commitment to serving others as they prepare for their next chapter. 💙🐊
