Huge shoutout to our cafeteria managers and staff members that helped to make so many Back to School Nights memorable this back-to-school season. Our school-based staff are the heartbeats of their schools and we are grateful so many worked evenings in September to talk to community members about DFNS offerings, FARM Apps, MealViewer, and the likes. REMINDER: Apply for Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARM) today! A new FARM application must be completed every school year. Households meeting federal income standards are eligible for free school meals, but must apply to receive this benefit. Please submit the online FARM application through MySchoolApps (translations available). Only one application is needed for all students in a household.

Congratulations to the team at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School for being named one of America’s Healthiest Schools for 2026 by Alliance for a Healthier Generation !! Today’s Superintendent’s Administrative & Supervisory meeting was filled with learning, celebrations, and delicious food— made with love by our stellar DFNS catering teams!

DFNS even had two of our own— Ms. Mary Ann Gabriel and Mr. Jeff Davidson receive jackets this June. Jeff and Mary Ann were recognized for their dedication, leadership and service that have helped make MCPS stronger every day (each of them serving 30+ years at MCPS!). We are so grateful to all of our DFNS teams and loved seeing Jeff and Mary Ann recognized district wide for roles that they do tirelessly behind the scenes.

☀️ School may be out (on Thursday), but summer nutrition is in full swing!

Another food program for students this summer— Maryland SUN Bucks is back for Summer 2026, providing eligible children with $40 per month in June, July, and August—a total of $120 per child to help families purchase groceries throughout the summer.

SUN Bucks works hand in hand with our FREE Summer Meals Program, giving families even more ways to keep children nourished while school is out. 🍎🥪

Check your mail for an eligibility letter, and if you think your child may qualify but haven’t received one, scan the QR code on the flyer to learn more about eligibility and the application process.

☀️ Summer Meals are coming soon, MCPS!🍎🥪

Join us this summer for nutritious meals available at no cost across 100 eligible sites in Montgomery County.

Children 18 years old or under, and those above 18 with a disability, may come to any of the open summer meals locations for a nutritious meal. Click the links in our bio for our MCPS Summer Meals page, as well as our list of open sites.

Help us spread the word so every child has access to nutritious meals while school is out. 💙
