The Damascus Cluster Elementary Schools are hosting a parent meeting on Tuesday June 2, from 5:30-6:30. This meeting is for students entering 3, 4, 5th grades next year. Come hear more about the math changes for next year and details on cluster grouping and compacted math. See the attached flyer for the zoom link. We will record the meeting for families who cannot attend.

❗️Call to ACTION❗️This morning, Superintendent Thomas Taylor sent an email to all MCPS staff and shared this video message detailing how the County Council’s proposed budget cuts will affect MCPS and our schools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjNVTHd1QWo

The County Council straw vote (which has historically matched their final budget vote) is scheduled for *Thursday, May 14th*. That means we are almost out of time to change the County Council members’ minds regarding cuts to the MCPS FY27 Operating Budget.

The time for action is NOW! Please support teachers and staff by calling or emailing County Council members TODAY to let them know that these budget cuts will negatively impact our children! We are sharing screenshots below of a phone banking script that MCEA (the teacher’s union) shared with its members, which includes talking points to use when calling County Council members. Please use this information as a guide for how to speak with council members and their staff when making calls. We are also copying the general message below that can additionally be utilized as a guide for email use.

Support from parents and the community is crucial in order to get the attention of the County Council members and urge them to reconsider. Without hearing from us, there will be drastic cuts and layoffs in the near future. Please help put a stop to it by calling or emailing County Council members TODAY! Feel free to share this message with friends, neighbors and other concerned community members. These cuts will affect ALL schools in MCPS.

On the last day of staff appreciation week, our staff was treated to these super cute and super delicious cookies. Thanks to all the families who spoiled our Woodfield staff this week! 🦅

On Wednesday, the PTA spoiled our staff with beautiful charcuterie boards and salads. No lunch is complete without dessert and one of Woodfield’s very own staff made not one, not two, but three flavors of cupcakes! 🦅

With MCAP testing starting this week, our amazing staff made these posters to help motivate the students. We are so lucky to have such creative and caring Woodfield staff! 🦅

Our favorite week of the year! Staff appreciation week is 5/4-5/8. We kicked off this week with homemade cinnamon rolls and homemade muffins. We love our Woodfield Eagles staff. 🦅

It’s week and the kids are already excited! We have taken over the Media Center and will be open for business from 9:00 - 4:30 on Monday - Thursday and 9:00 - 1:30 on Friday. Add funds to or create your student’s e-wallet for an easy way to buy their favorite books! And remember…this week will be Buy One Get One for all items!
