Not every hero carries a weapon.

June 17 marks the birthday of the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps.

Since 1898, Corpsmen have stood beside Sailors and Marines in every major conflict, delivering lifesaving care when it matters most.

Known as “Docs,” they serve across ships, clinics, hospitals, and combat zones. The Navy Hospital Corps is also the most decorated enlisted rating in the Navy.

Today, we honor the skill, courage, and sacrifice behind the uniform.

Share this to honor a corpsman who made a difference.

Stronger wellness programs start with employee voice.

The VA has invested in Employee Whole Health programming to support staff wellness, but engagement is still showing to be a challenge.

A new study looked at 8 VA sites to understand what helps and what gets in the way.

Rather than just a wellness program that exists, it shows that employees need clear communication, dedicated leaders, wellness built into orientation, and a culture that supports whole-person health

When staff help shape the mission, participation becomes stronger.

Freedom was carried onto those beaches.

On June 6, 1944, nearly 160,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel and stepped onto five beaches in Normandy — Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.
They came by air, sea, and land. Many never came home.

More than 10,000 Allied casualties were recorded in a single day. Yet their sacrifice cracked open the Western Front and set liberation in motion across Western Europe.

82 years later, we remember what they carried with them — and what they left behind.

AI is changing healthcare, but how should leaders use it responsibly?

Across federal and military medicine, artificial intelligence has the potential to reshape how teams deliver care, manage operations, support clinicians, and make faster, smarter decisions.

But meaningful progress requires more than new technology.

It requires leadership, strategy, and honest discussion.

On June 11, 2026, AMSUS will host the Artificial Intelligence Thought Leadership Forum in Bethesda, Maryland, bringing together healthcare leaders to examine the practical role of AI in the future of federal medicine.

Join the conversation and help shape what responsible AI adoption looks like in healthcare.

Not all military medicine happens in hospitals.

This June 3, 2026, marks 110 years of service of the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps

But this anniversary is about more than animal care.

Army veterinary professionals help protect military working dogs, support food safety, strengthen public health, prevent zoonotic disease, and contribute to biomedical research.

Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact reaches the entire force.

From the food supply to deployed environments, the Army Veterinary Corps helps protect readiness before problems reach the mission.

AMSUS recognizes 110 years of veterinary service, prevention, and force health protection.
