Yoga & Mindfulness is part of the Lightbridge Academy curriculum! ☮

Children benefit from each of these practices and begin learning how to use their breathing to relieve their stress, calm their minds and nervous system.

Accompanied by music, simple games and at-home activities, the exclusive program also helps children to release negative emotions while gaining independence and coping skills

Our groundbreaking ceremony was such a special day! We were so grateful for all of the support of the community, Chambers of Commerce, elected officials, fellow Lightbridge Academy owners and co-workers, family and friends! Construction is now underway, and we can't wait to open our day care center in early 2027!

We focus on providing this individualized, nurturing care while also introducing the fundamentals of learning to your infant!

What a gift to partner with a wonderful organization providing bags, essential care items, and gifts for children entering foster care! As we prepare to open and wait on construction, it was great being able to work alongside some Upcounty Chamber of Commerce friends to pack cases for Comfort Cases! We look forward to continuing to partner with Comfort Cases so that Lightbridge Academy not only reaches families and children within our day care, but in the greater Gaithersburg community and around the country!

With us, children from ages six weeks through pre-K thrive in an environment that encourages a passion for learning, provides nurturing care and prepares them for academic success! Our curriculum utilizes a “whole” child approach to learning and enrichment including a reading/writing readiness program, STEM, Spanish, American Sign Language, Musical Beginnings and more. iPad technology and interactive Whiteboards enhance the educational program by bringing learning to life in classrooms!

Lightbridge Academy Gaithersburg day care is beyond excited to welcome our new center director, Shantee Bentzen!

Shantee Bentzen brings over 21 years of experience in Early Childhood Education to Lightbridge Academy. She has held several roles in this field, including a floater, aid, teacher, coordinator, assistant director, cook, and director. She is a huge advocate for coaching and mentoring staff and has over 7 years of experience training other early childhood professionals.

Shantee is a loving mother of two sons, ages 16 and 13. In her free time, Shantee enjoys spending time with her children, friends, and family. She is an avid reader, and enjoys a good night of karaoke as well! Shantee is so excited to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of young children at Lightbridge Academy, and we couldn't be more thrilled that she has joined our team!
