Yesterday was such a special day for me as I had the honor of being a mystery reader for my daughter's kindergarten class! I cannot even begin to describe the joy and excitement that filled the room as I read a captivating story to the little ones about using their imagination.

Being an educator has always been a lifelong passion of mine and I feel incredibly blessed to be able to share my love for reading with such sweet and eager learners. It's moments like these that remind me why I decided to become a teacher in the first place, then ultimately opening my own tutoring business to support as many students as possible.

As always, the kids were full of brilliant questions and comments that made our reading time even more special. I left the classroom feeling so fulfilled and grateful for the opportunity to spark a love of reading in these young minds.

Thank you to all the amazing teachers out there, especially Lilly’s, who work tirelessly to educate the youth and make a difference in their lives. Keep shining bright and never forget the important role you play in shaping our future. ❤️

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VIRGINIA K-12 LEARNING ACCELERATION GRANT: “I am not sure that I’d be approved for the grant because my child doesn’t go to public school.”

The grant states that “Qualifying students include any public, private, parochial or home-school student in grades K-12 residing in Virginia and meeting the school-age requirements in §22.1-1, Code of Virginia.”

My recommendation is to apply regardless of if you think you’ll be approved or not. Based on the math, only 20,000 students will receive this grant money. I applied and got approved within the week (the website and emails mention it takes up to 2 weeks).

Let us know if you have any questions!

We begin Wednesday, February 8th at 8:00pm! Register here: https://forms.gle/TKtc5X38BRrSUfqG7

The CRASH MATH: Algebra 1 series is a group of 15 live virtual classes focused on main topics students are currently struggling with in the classroom. These virtual classes are the key to success because it will help students develop their understanding, master the skills and recall math concepts, all while being taught by a current Algebra 1 teacher. Through small group instruction, games and carefully thought-out examples, students will gain mastery of topics by analyzing the problems given multiple methods, make connections to previous taught material and identifying their errors to learn from. Students will also develop a sense of self-efficacy by recognizing their own success and progress, all while developing their own strategies and preference for solving problems.

CRASH MATH: Algebra 1 will consist of a maximum of 6 students, with each session lasting 90 minutes total. Join 1 or all of the sessions! All sessions are live virtually, with access to a video recording for future reteaching. Each session also comes with a quiz to check the student's knowledge of the topic(s) covered. This also gives the tutor information of what topics to review the following session. The topics being covered in each session are listed below.
