Children helping children.

During Vacation Bible School, participants put their faith into action by collecting food donations for Crossroads Connection. Together, they donated an incredible 866 food items to help support the 460 children we serve across 20 Prince William County schools.

From Goldfish crackers and BelVita Breakfast Biscuits to cereal and macaroni and cheese cups, every donation will help stock weekend food bags for local students when the new school year begins.

These young volunteers showed that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Thank you to the VBS participants, families, and leaders for helping ensure local children know they are cared for, supported, and never alone. 💙

❤️ 100 local students supported.

The Middle School Mission Madness students accomplished something incredible during their morning at Crossroads Connection.

Together, they helped prepare 900 bags of food for a new summer food program serving students at Marumsco Hills Elementary School. Through this partnership with St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 300 bags of food will be delivered every three weeks throughout the summer to help ensure children have access to food when school is out.

But this effort is about more than food.

As Marumsco Hills social worker Laurie Brooks shared with the students, the greatest impact isn’t just what’s inside each bag—it’s the message it sends. Every bag tells a child and family that their community sees them, cares about them, and is willing to show up for them.

In just a few hours, these students helped create 900 moments of hope, dignity, and support for local children.

Thank you to these incredible middle school students for showing that you’re never too young to make a meaningful impact in your community.

1,767 bags of Goldfish crackers collected! 🤩🎉

On June 20, the Dominion Valley Sharks Swim Team wrapped up a successful weeklong food drive during their dual meet with the Meadowbrook Makos, collecting an incredible 1,767 bags of Goldfish crackers for Crossroads Connection.

Despite the early morning start, the Sharks showed up with enthusiasm, carrying donation after donation to help support local students facing food insecurity. Many of these young athletes are already familiar faces at Crossroads Connection through their volunteer efforts, and once again, they stepped up to make a difference.

Goldfish crackers are a favorite snack among the children we serve, and this amazing donation will help bring both nourishment and smiles to students throughout our community.

The Dominion Valley Sharks proved that teamwork is about more than competition—it’s about showing up for others, supporting your community, and making an impact that reaches far beyond the pool.

Thank you, Sharks, for your generosity, energy, and commitment to helping local children thrive! 💙🦈

Victory Elementary School showed just how much they care. 🎉💛

Just a few weeks ago, students and families came together for a friendly competition between the school’s house teams and collected an incredible 2,500 food items for Crossroads Connection—making it one of our largest food drives of the year!

These donations will help provide weekend meals and food support for the 460 local students we serve throughout Prince William County and beyond during the summer months.

A special thank you to school social workers Beth Spivak and Cecilia Kuglistsh, whose enthusiasm and encouragement helped make this drive such a success, and to every student, family, teacher, and staff member who participated.

One of our favorite moments was receiving a handmade “Thank You” banner from the students, which now hangs proudly in our facility as a reminder of the kindness and compassion shown by the Victory Elementary community.

Thank you, Victory Elementary, for making a difference in the lives of local children. 💙

Students helping students. That’s what community is all about. 💙🥣

Just a few weeks ago, Bull Run Middle School’s spring sports teams led a friendly competition between the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to collect food for local students facing food insecurity.

Together, they donated an incredible 760 food items, including oatmeal, macaroni and cheese cups, granola bars, and Nutri-Grain bars, to support Crossroads Connection and the 460 students we serve across 20 local Prince William County schools.

A special thank you to Declan Campbell, who helped lead the collection effort throughout May, and to every student, family, and staff member who contributed.

What makes this donation so meaningful is that these students were helping children just like themselves—making sure their peers have food over the weekend and can return to school ready to learn.

We’re honored to be part of what Bull Run Middle School hopes will become an annual tradition of giving back. Thank you for making a difference! 💙

🎂 Every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday.

That’s why Crossroads Connection is so excited to now provide Birthday Boxes for the children we serve — because food support matters, but so do joy, celebration, and the simple moments that make childhood special. 💙

Through an incredible partnership with the FCCLA students at Gainesville High School, 100 birthday boxes were created for local children experiencing food insecurity. FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a national student organization focused on leadership, community service, and helping students make a positive impact in their communities — and these students truly embodied that mission.

Each birthday box was thoughtfully packed with cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, candles, balloons, birthday cards, and even cans of Sprite to help families create meaningful birthday memories at home.

What makes this project even more special is the heart behind it. FCCLA students raised funds throughout the school year by catering events, then spent their own time assembling every box by hand. Their compassion, leadership, and dedication are a powerful reminder of what young people can accomplish when they come together to serve their community.

A huge thank you to Jennifer McKee, the FCCLA students, Quinn McKee, and AJ Miller for helping bring this project to life. These birthday boxes are more than supplies — they’re moments of happiness, dignity, and hope for children who deserve to feel celebrated.

Because every child deserves a birthday worth smiling about. 🎈

💙 Kids helping kids. Community helping community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Wegmans Gainesville, more than 9,000 food items were recently donated to support local students facing food insecurity. From fruit cups and granola bars to oatmeal, mac & cheese cups, and other kid-friendly essentials, these donations will help ensure children have access to food when school meals aren’t available.

What makes this partnership even more special is that Wegmans team members don’t just donate—they regularly volunteer their time helping us pack food bags for local students. Their commitment to serving our community goes far beyond the grocery store.

A special shoutout to the student volunteers who spent their Saturday morning unloading, sorting, and organizing the donation. Seeing young people step up to help their peers is a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Together, we’re building a stronger community where no child has to face weekend hunger alone. Thank you, Wegmans, for being such an incredible partner in this mission. 💙
