Mary Eliza Mahoney made nursing history on this day in 1879.

After graduating from the New England Hospital for Women and Children, she became the first professionally trained Black nurse in the United States.

She later helped co-found the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses, creating more support and recognition for Black nurses.

This National Black Nurses Week, we honor her legacy and the doors she opened.

AP Exam Success

Hall County Schools continues to raise the bar in Advanced Placement (AP) achievement.

In 2026, our AP students earned a 70% pass rate, marking a 1% increase from last year and the highest overall AP pass rate in the district since at least 2013. Even more impressive, students completed more than 600 additional AP exams compared to last year, demonstrating that both participation and performance are growing.

As more students challenge themselves with college-level coursework, they are also achieving success at record levels. This accomplishment reflects the hard work of our students, the support of their families, and the dedication of our teachers who continue to help students reach new heights.

Congratulations to all of our AP students and educators on this outstanding achievement.

We go over this as part of our linguistic anthropology unit in my anthropology class! The connection between language and perception is fascinating!

History Teacher Antique Adventures!

If you love a good treasure hunt like I do, this is a great place to go and it’s not far away! Truly, no matter what it is you are looking for they probably have it. The owners are incredibly nice, the staff is super friendly, it is a very clean place and even the bathrooms are spotless. The only thing this place needs is a snack bar because I did get a little hungry because I spent so much time in there, lol.😂

***Parents / Guardians***
Please share the information to the side with your students so that they can get signed up to receive StudentSquare messages on their personal devices. Currently, the majority of students are only receiving messages through the tile on Launchpoint. If they would like to receive information (like they did on Remind), they MUST complete these steps.
