Hey All,

Our next Alumni Gathering will be on Wednesday June 17 from 6-7:30pm in the Blue Room at our beloved FSM.
This month we will explore an Awareness Through Movement® lesson with our very own Susie Vought! During this event, we’ll explore the classic Pelvic Clock lesson and gain a sense of how the pelvis, spine, hips, breath, and head organize together. During Awareness Through Movement® lessons, participants are guided through gentle, floor-based movements that offer the opportunity to slow down, notice subtle movement patterns, and experience how even small shifts in awareness can lead to more refined organization and, in turn, greater ease, mobility, and comfort in our bodies. As massage therapists, this lesson will offer a felt experience of functional anatomy, nervous system learning, and the relationship between movement, awareness, and touch.

Also, in case you didn’t know, Susie Vought is a licensed massage therapist, massage therapy instructor, and Feldenkrais – Mind Body Studies practitioner with over a decade of experience supporting people with chronic pain, injury recovery, and movement awareness. Her work blends hands-on therapeutic experience with somatic education, helping students and clients develop greater body literacy, ease, and curiosity in movement. Susie is especially interested in how nervous system awareness and gentle movement exploration can support both clinical practice and personal well-being.

We’d love to see you there so get it on your calendar and bring a blanket!

Workshop description:

This 16-hour course will focus on the muscles supporting the diaphragm and mid back. Massage therapists will learn the anatomy of the automatic nervous system and how to track both sympathetic and parasympathetic responses. The parasympathetic response allows the body and mind to integrate tension patterns easily. Students will learn to engage the parasympathetic response using a combination of application of vibration
from percussion tools like theragun, breathing, movement, awareness, and intention. Upon completing this class, they will guide their clients in activating a parasympathetic response in their sessions and daily lives.
