Starting September 1, 2026, Senate Bill 912 changes how you prove your continuing education when you renew your Texas nursing license.
Here's what actually changed: your CE hours did NOT change. You still need the same continuing education you always did. What's new is that you now have to upload your CE certificates through the Texas Nurse Portal BEFORE you can complete your license renewal. No upload, no renewal.
What to do now:
• Make sure every course you take gives you a downloadable PDF certificate (not a screenshot, not just an email)
• Save each certificate the day you finish the course
• Keep them in one folder — on your computer, in the cloud, or printed
• Have them ready to upload when you renew

Renew Now CE offers fully online, self-paced Texas nursing CE with instant PDF certificates after you complete each course — easy to download, save, and upload to the Texas Nurse Portal.
