A retired educator and coach, Mr. Heard’s influence extends far beyond the classroom and athletic field. As a mentor, leader, and trailblazer, he has dedicated his life to shaping generations of students, athletes, and community leaders. His commitment to excellence, service, and youth development has left an enduring legacy throughout Gainesville and beyond.

Juneteenth Gospel & Jazz Sunrise Breakfast

Enjoy gospel and jazz entertainment, breakfast, recognition of community leaders, and good company!

This event will serve as a meaningful Juneteenth celebration recognizing faith, resilience, and community progress. As part of the celebration, the chapter will present the Legacy of Leadership Honoree Award, recognizing outstanding community leaders whose sustained service and leadership have created lasting impact. The theme is “Morning Glory: Faith, Freedom & Forward Movement”.

All proceeds support programs and initiatives aligned with the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Please join us in celebrating the latest achievement of Soror Jancie Vinson!

Soror Vinson is the only candidate who qualified for the Alachua County School Board District 5 seat and, as a result, has secured her position on the Board. She will not appear on the August 18 ballot and will be officially sworn in this November. Additional information regarding the ceremony will be shared as it becomes available.

The Gainesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is proud to recognize Dr. Theresa Beachy as one of four distinguished recipients of the 2026 Legacy of Leadership Honoree Award at the Juneteenth Gospel & Jazz Sunrise Breakfast.

Dr. Beachy was instrumental in expanding safe housing and support services for survivors of domestic violence and their children while championing prevention through community education and public awareness. Her leadership strengthened community efforts to address domestic violence, promote healthy relationships, and enhance victim safety throughout North Central Florida.
