Please take the time to read about a relief drive that is currently going on regarding Hurricane Ian. This drive was organized by two OTD students, Gina Froehlich and Leah Knight. Please consider donating to help families, friends and others who were affected by Hurricane Ian.
"As you have probably heard, Southwest Florida was hit by Hurricane Ian extremely hard. Several students in the program have family members affected by the damage, ourselves included.
One of the core values of our profession is altruism. We are called to demonstrate an unselfish concern for the welfare of others. With the devastation that has occurred, now is the perfect time for our program to put this value into practice.
With this in mind, we are organizing a relief drive to send supplies down to the affected area. A donation bin will be set up on campus, tomorrow, in the OT sitting area - the alcove right as you get off the elevator with the blue couches and plants. If you are interested in supporting, please bring any of the items on the attached flyer.
Here is a google doc listing out all of the supplies we are looking for, with links to example products: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZB96VbHtVOYKU0F6c6FvSIXfb4nFaZdJShSDP_34rAc/edit?usp=sharing
If you are not currently on campus (i.e. fieldwork or capstone students), you can purchase items to donate off of this Amazon Wishlist. Purchased items will be sent to Leah Knight’s apartment (a third year student) for delivery to Southwest Florida. You are welcome to share the wishlist with family and friends as well.
SOTA members can earn 1 service point for donating at least 2 items. Donations for this round of relief are due by 10/19.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can be reached via phone, text, or email.
Leah Knight - 239-994-3589 - [email protected]
Gina Froehlich - 239-983-5419 - [email protected]
Thank you in advance for your support!
Kindly,
Leah & Gina "
