More than forty faculty members support teaching, research, and extension activities in areas including nutrition, reproduction, molecular biology and physiology, genetics, meat science, and management related to dairy and beef cattle, horses, goats, and swine. Dr. Peter Hansen has recently reached an h-Index of 100 in recognition of his scholarly work and impact on the animal sciences industry. He has served the department since 1984, and his research has greatly contributed to the advancement of reproductive sciences for dairy and beef cattle globally. Congratulations, Dr. Hansen! ๐ŸŽ‰

He was recently named the UF ANS Undergraduate Coordinator and has been working hard to provide students with support and guidance throughout their academic journeys. Dr. Vyas teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses focused on animal nutrition and forage quality, and he looks forward to furthering student success in his new role.

This month, we are recognizing the industry that provides us with the milk, cheese, and other dairy products that we love! We are grateful for the hardworking farmers who care for their herds and ensure our dairy is the highest quality each day, and we can't wait to celebrate all month!

Happy National Beef Month! ๐Ÿฎ

This month, we are taking the time to recognize the importance of the Beef Industry! We appreciate the ranchers who work to take the utmost care of their herds while also stewarding their land and natural resources.

Did you know that beef contains many essential nutrients that we need in our diet, like protein, iron, zinc, selenium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, phosphorus, pantothenate, magnesium, and potassium? We hope you enjoy beef products as much as we do, and we hope you celebrate this month with a lasting appreciation for the steaks, burgers, and other meals that wouldn't be complete without beef!
