This podcast is where we speak with artists about their experiences in mini-comics, zines, and all things self-publishing back in the days before the internet.

Newgarden has worked on a wide variety of creative projects in numerous forms including print, film, TV, and digital media (from Cartoon Network to Microsoft). His work has been exhibited at such venues as the Smithsonian Institute, the Cooper-Hewitt, the Brooklyn Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the ICA in London, and the Picasso Museum in Lucerne. He has won the Eisner Award and the Society of Illustrators Gold Medal, among other honors. He currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Make Your Own Linocut @ SAW in Gainesville, FL!

Explore the centuries-old tradition of relief printmaking in this hands-on linocut workshop! Participants will learn the basics of linocut, design and carve their own rubber stamp, and use it to create a series of prints to take home.

No prior printmaking experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.

What could a year of comics study look like?

Our Year-Long Comics Certificate Program brings together drawing, storytelling, comics history, creative practice, mentorship, and plenty of time to develop your own work. Over four semesters, you’ll learn from experienced cartoonists and instructors, connect with a community of fellow artists, and work toward a final project, all with flexible payment options and the affordability of an alternative to traditional art school.

And if you choose to participate, your final work can be included in our professionally printed student anthology which serves as a lasting showcase of the work created during the program!
