A 2024 article in Current Biology reported on the mass mortality of diadematoid sea urchins spreading in the Mediterranean. Apparently, the mass mortality researchers identified in Egypt back in 2023 has spread along the Red Sea and beyond—to Oman, and even as far as Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2024.04.057
