UF IFAS Molluscan Shellfish Aquaculture and Restoration Lab (MSAR) is located in Gainesville, Florida. The lab is run by Dr. Huiping Yang who is an UF Assistant Professor. Our goal is to conduct research on molluscan shellfish aquaculture production, technologies, applications, and restoration, and to coordinate with the extension team in producing educational resources and demonstrations directly

PhD students Paul McDonald and Jayme Yee presented ongoing laboratory research and gave a laboratory tour to conference attendees at this year's Gulf & South Atlantic States Shellfish Conference.

A 2024 article in Current Biology reported on the mass mortality of diadematoid sea urchins spreading in the Mediterranean. Apparently, the mass mortality researchers identified in Egypt back in 2023 has spread along the Red Sea and beyond—to Oman, and even as far as Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2024.04.057
