At this year's Division of Student Life Awards Event:

- Danny Kandell, Coordinator in Sport Programs, received the Patricia Telles-Irvin Mentorship Award for his amazing work in coaching, guiding and mentoring student officials in and outside of UF with several being named All American Officials.

- RecSports in partnership and a shared vision with the Counseling and Wellness Center was the first ever recipient of the Wellness in Action Award for their Ground and Grow Yoga Program which integrates trauma-informed yoga led by a certified instructor with guided reflection and facilitated discussion led by a licensed mental health counselor.

- Michelle Freeman (December), Associate Director, for receiving the Vice President's Special Recognition for her amazing work in Risk Management across the division and the university.

The Coordinator of Recreational Sports for Reservations & Events is a key player in making campus recreation come alive, helping turn ideas and requests into memorable experiences. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports for Reservations & Events, this position supports the unit’s vision by keeping reservations running smoothly, events operating seamlessly, and student staff set up for success. The Coordinator leads the hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of enthusiastic front line student employees and provides hands on event services support across Recreational Sports facilities and spaces. With frequent interaction with students, staff, and campus partners, this role thrives on collaboration, clear communication, and problem solving, all while setting and upholding policies and expectations that ensure safe, welcoming, and well organized events.

This is an energetic, people focused position for someone who enjoys a fast paced environment, loves working with students, and is excited to help create engaging recreational experiences for the campus community.

The Coordinator of Recreational Sports (RecSports) for Operations position hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates student staff to manage multiple indoor and outdoor recreational facilities across campus. The coordinator must work effectively and efficiently to support facility, programs, and Department needs. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director for Operations and will support the vision, goals, and objectives. The coordinator has significant contact and oversight of front-line student staff and is responsible for setting clear expectations and holding staff accountable for policies, procedures, and guidelines. This position assists with the planning, review, and ex*****on of services and special events across multiple campus locations; and assists with compliance of procedures in facilities and risk management. This position will collaborate with both internal and external groups as needed to complete the job responsibilities and support the Department of Recreational Sports.
