A note from UF Housing with important updates.
Hello Gators,
UF Housing remains open and operational. Alachua County essential businesses such as grocery stores, gas stations, and hotels are still operational. The Reitz Union Hotel has availability and can be reached at 352-392-2151. Students traveling from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut should expect travel delays per Governor Desantis’ order to quarantine for fourteen (14) upon arrival to the state. This will impact our residents who have not yet moved out. Please make the best decision for you and your family regarding travel plans. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this situation. We will continue to communicate updates as plans evolve. University updates are located here: http://www.ufl.edu/health-updates/
As a reminder, please visit our Move Out page for specific guidelines of checking out of residence halls: https://www.housing.ufl.edu/residence-halls/move-out/ Residents are NOT required to contact RA’s regarding move-out. Students are permitted to bring two (2) guests to assist with move out, this includes the assistance of moving professionals. Upon arrival head straight to the room, pack, and then return keys in the envelope provided in their student mailbox by the scheduled move-out appointment time. In facilities with service elevators, we will do our best to provide elevator access, but please plan to have limited to no access as we have minimal staff to provide this service. As a convenience residents may leave unwanted items in their room and housing staff will dispose of items at a later date. We ask that perishables and trash be removed from the room. Should guidance change regarding these procedures we will provide an update.
UF is currently developing plans for issuing refunds, rebates, or credits to students who may no longer be able to utilize their university residence hall and/or dining plan contracts. Each student’s funding situation is different based on their financial aid or how they paid their contracts. We will be working with students on their individual cases. Communication regarding refund decisions will be sent to students once the plan is finalized.
For any questions please contact us at 352-392-2161 or [email protected].
Thank you,
UF Housing and Residence Education
