Alachua County Public Schools shared the following information via email this afternoon:

"Littlewood Elementary School families and staff:

Each year administrative changes occur for a variety of reasons. After serving as principal at Littlewood Elementary School for nine years, Mr. Justin Russell will be transitioning to a new role within the district. I know we all appreciate his many contributions to Littlewood students, families and staff.

I am pleased to announce that Ms. Maggie Gardiner has been selected as the new principal of Littlewood Elementary School. Ms. Gardiner is very much looking forward to taking on this role.

Ms. Gardiner has been an educator with Alachua County Public Schools for more than 12 years. She has been a teacher, team leader, and spent six years as the assistant principal at Littlewood Elementary. For the last year she has served as principal of Duval Early Learning Academy.

Ms. Gardiner holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Flagler College and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida.

I am excited about the opportunities the new school year will bring for the students and staff at Littlewood Elementary, and I am confident that Ms. Gardiner’s experience, expertise and her connection to Littlewood will greatly benefit the school.

There will be many opportunities in the coming school year for staff members, families, and the community to work collaboratively to provide an outstanding educational experience for students. We appreciate your ongoing support of Littlewood Elementary School as we prepare all Lions for future success.

A few notes about tomorrow’s 5th grade End-of-Year Celebration:

💚Monday, June 1, at Servants of Christ Anglican Church (next door to Littlewood).

💛The event starts at 9:30am, and the doors will open for seating at 9:00am.

💚Each student received two tickets. This is due to space limitations at the host church. We cannot replace lost tickets.

💛There will be a standby line for those families who would like to invite extra guests. People in the standby line will be admitted as space permits, and there are no guarantees on standby line entrance.

💚The event will be live streamed for anyone who would like to watch but cannot attend. The link is: https://www.youtube.com/live/0QC6zq1i6x4?si=srO9NgMU8w8vk_a7

💛Balloons or other items that will block others from seeing will not be allowed into the sanctuary.

💚Students must come to school as usual the day of the event. They can't be dropped off at the church.

💛There will be a checkout procedure immediately following the celebration for those who would like to take their student with them. Students who are being checked out should NOT bring any belongings to school with them, as they cannot bring them to graduation and will have no way to return to the classroom.

💚Do not park at the church. Plan to park at Littlewood or Westside Park and walk over. The spots at the church need to be left open for the families of the students who attend The Shine School, which is located at the church. Servants of Christ Anglican Church generously hosts us for graduation every year, so please help them out by heeding this request.

💛There is not a dress code for students, other than the school dress code found in the Alachua County Student Code of Conduct, but we suggest that students dress neatly and wear shoes they are comfortable walking in, since we have to walk from school to the church.

Thank you for joining us at our inaugural End-of-Year Bash! We enjoyed watching our Lions have fun with their friends and families, celebrating the end of the 2025-2026 school year. 💚🦁

A huge thank you to our PTA teacher liaison Ms. Alvarez, for recruiting so many of our teachers to serve up popcorn, paint faces, help make friendship bracelets, dress in costumes, & create a fingerprint scrapbook! 💛

Volunteers, thank you for dedicating your Friday night to lugging stuff through 95% humidity, setting up, & ensuring the event was a hit for all- all while getting soaked at the end. ☔️

A limited number of yearbooks will be sold for $30 (exact cash only), until they are out for good!
