The transfer station also offers free compost, dual stream recycling, and they create about 200 to 350 gallons of biodiesel gas a month to help fuel the garbage trucks.

Update: The Alachua/High Springs Rural Collection Center located at 16929 NW US Highway 441 High Springs, FL 32643 will be open this afternoon (12:30-5:30pm) if people need to drop off items.
The Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station are temporarily closed due to a fire which occurred overnight. Crews are working to safely reopen the facility as soon as possible. Although the source of the fire is not currently known, this is a reminder that lithium batteries should be disposed of as hazardous waste and not be thrown away in the regular garbage containers.
We will keep the public up to date on the reopening of the facility as we know more.
