Day 6: TEACH OTHERS!

I'm fortunate enough to get to educate others about the environment every day at work. And what do I do in my free time? I try and keep that energy up! After a few months of broken computers and busy schedules, I was finally able to edit together my snail kite video! So learn something new, and tell a friend! The more we know about the planet, the better we can have passion and care for Her.

Day 5: THRIFTING!! A year ago, we thrifted this cute hand painted lamp (cost me $1!), but it didn’t have a shade! We finally thrifted that for $2 and it really fit vibe of our living room (and all the other thrifted furniture!). I can’t remember the last new furniture item I bought, because I just love the character and story that comes with used furniture. Plus, it usually is just built better! Love me a thrift find 🛋

Who’s that pretty girl in the mirror there? It’s the Pinkster Azalea or Rhododendron canescens! This gorgeous shrub thrives in many ecosystems around the southeastern United States, but I found this one in the flatwoods of Florida! My favorite thing about this plant? Every part of it, from the roots to the leaves to the flowers is toxic! In fact, honey made from the nectar of azaleas in Turkey makes “crazy honey”, aptly named because it can cause confusion and sickness in feasters 🌸
