Through an RTA led by political scientist Dr. Janusz, UF students Eduarda Barcelos and Sofia Maciel Rocha traveled to Rio de Janeiro to explore a fascinating question:

🗳️ Why do people run for public office when they have little chance of winning?

For Sofia, the experience was about more than research—it was about stepping outside her comfort zone, navigating new spaces, and staying curious. 🌎

“Everything was a learning experience,” Sofia said.
