Thank you to everyone that came out last night! We wanted to give a big shout out to Matt Knopp from Walt Disney! Last night Mr. Knopp shared his previous safety experience working at Disney World, how to communicate with people on site, and how to learn from your leaders.

We have one more event left of the semester on Tuesday, April 12th at 5pm. You won't want to miss it!

Safety Tip: Electrical Protection

This week we will be focusing on the importance of lock out, tag out. The tag must include the date of the tag out, the name of the person who tagged out, and the direct phone number of that person.

In the event of the emergency, anyone on site can look at this information and get in contact with that person and take action.

Last week we had the great opportunity to receive a presentation from Jeff Treffinger from Amentum. He discussed the ideas of safety culture and bias during risk assessment!

This week we had the opportunity to participate in Student Club Night. We were able to educate new Construction Management students about the importance of safety and recruited them to join our chapter!

Weekly Safety Tip: Fall Protection

This week we will be focusing on one of the Focus Four Hazards. For heights of six feet and greater, at least one of the following must be provided: guardrails, personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), or netting systems.

Guardrails must have a top rail, mid-rail, and a toe board. PFAS must include an anchorage, a connector, and a body harness. Safety nets must be set to limit a 30 foot fall.

Weekly Safety Tip: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE is equipment that can be worn to reduce the exposure to hazards on site. PPE should be provided to protect all employees from potential injuries.

Some PPE include: hand protection, hard hats, high visibility vests/clothing, ear protection, eye protection, and foot protection.
