Drs. Raga Bjarnadottir and Tamara Macieira explore how nurses can use generative AI to strengthen evidence-based practice, while keeping critical appraisal and clinical judgment firmly in nurses’ hands.

Their latest article also introduces the FloGatorAI Prompt Cookbook, built around Sackett’s five-step EBP cycle to help nurses use AI as a thinking partner, not a replacement for clinical judgment.

In the first week of their journey to become Gator Nurses, our TBSN students were asked: “What does being a mean to you?” 💙🧡

Their responses reflect the values, experiences and aspirations they’re bringing to this journey, from compassion and excellence to advocacy, service and a commitment to caring for others. This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to watch these future Gator Nurses grow, learn and bring their own words to life.

The nurse you hope to become starts with the student you are today. 🩺🐊 More than 300 incoming UF College of Nursing students began their journey as during Traditional BSN Orientation.

Students wrote letters to their future selves, reflecting on why they chose nursing and who they hope to become. They’ll receive those letters again when they graduate.

They also pledged To Learn. To Serve. To Lead. before walking through an arch bearing those words, a symbolic step into the Gator Nurse community.

For Myra Lacue and Amner Montelongo, the moment honored the experiences that led them to nursing and the future they’re now beginning to build.

What started with a swipe turned into an unexpected connection. 💙🩺

When incoming UF College of Nursing TBSN student Alyssa Santoro signed up for a roommate-matching app, she never expected to be matched with two fellow nursing students. She met one of them, Brianna Reynolds, for the first time during TBSN Orientation, and the two quickly discovered they had more in common than just an apartment.

From different hometowns and backgrounds, Alyssa and Brianna share a passion for caring for others and an excitement to begin their journeys. They’re part of the College of Nursing’s largest-ever TBSN cohort, with 312 students beginning classes this fall.

As orientation brought classmates together, introduced them to faculty and peer mentors, and prepared them for the challenges ahead, new friendships were already taking shape.

“I just want to dive into it already,” Alyssa said.

Here’s to new beginnings, new roommates, new classmates and the lifelong connections made along the way. 🐊💙
