At Musical Bones Studio, students learn to play the piano through a remarkable Australian-developed piano / keyboard method called Simply Music (www.SimplyMusic.com). Students of all ages are able to play contemporary, classical, blues / jazz, and accompaniment pieces - immediately - from their very first lessons. After 12 to 18 months students have a huge repertoire of songs (30 to 50 songs)! In

those programs students learn how to play by learning how to read first. If you can't decode the page, you can't play. That path of learning, if applied to how we learn our own language would mean we would teach toddlers how to read first and then talk. Just bizarre and quite frankly the results are historic with over 90% leaving lessons in the first year or two completely frustrated. Maybe you are one of them. In this incredible program, students learn how to play first and them read. Delaying the reading process, temporarily, allows the student to develop a relationship with music and playing the piano first. Students are playing 30 to 50 songs in the first 12 to 18 months allowing them to have an experience that crosses multiple genres. Experience something different. Experience success. In 2008, after a series of interesting events, I ended up on a call with a man named Neil Moore. During this call he asked if I was musical. I told him I was not and in fact self identified as someone who "doesn't have a musical bone in my body". I even told him that the only class I failed in college was Beginning Piano. Much of what he said on that call ultimately had a profound impact on my life in multiple ways. That conversation he generously had with me, broke the wall in my brain that said I wasn't musical. He convinced me that I am in fact musical.....profoundly musical. I went on to take lessons and then launched my studio Musical Bones Studio, llc a year later. The door is about to open. There are only two times of the year that Musical Bones Studio opens for new students. One is in Sept and the other is the beginning of the year. Many people get a piano/keyboard during the holiday season and then start looking for lessons. I would like to encourage you to flip that script. I will be holding FREE introductory sessions in December/Jan so you can see and hear how this non-traditional approach has students of all ages playing blues, contemporary, classical, and accompaniment pieces right from the very first lessons.
