Shoutout to the teachers and staff who worked two long days this week to review achievement data, surveys, test scores, and more as we prepare for next school year. We had a lot of fun but they put in lots of hours as we wrote our School Improvement Plan and planned out what we can do to make East Hall even better when school starts in August!
“Don’t let average be your standard—we are chasing excellence today!”

Shoutout to all of our offensive linemen who put in the work at Rock Eagle for the GACA Battle at the Rock Trench Camp this past weekend. The work never stops in Valhalla!

We are really thankful for this team of Vikings who put in the work for two days this week at the HCSD Leadership Retreat.
We learned a lot and began to cast the vision for the work we will do during the next school year. Next week, we will level up with our school’s leadership retreat and dig into the details to move the needle when it comes to instruction and school improvement!

What a week at Summer GROW! 🌟

Our students spent the week building skills for success through self-advocacy lessons, interview practice, work-based learning experiences, and career exploration. From learning about opportunities in the skilled trades through welding demonstrations to making memories at Kubota and Lake Lanier Islands, every day brought new experiences and opportunities for growth.

We are so proud of our students for stepping outside their comfort zones, building confidence, earning their own money, and preparing for their futures. 💛🌱

We love seeing these Vikings at SkillsUSA Nationals! Mia Melendez competed in Basic Health Care Skills, Camila Rodriguez competed in Medical Terminology, and Colton Bates in Heavy Equipment Operation. Our Models of Excellence representatives rehearsed for the Awards Ceremony and visited the College Football Hall of Fame!

Day one of the Hall County School District’s leadership conference is in the books! We had a great day listening to our speakers, acquiring some unique teaching strategies, and beginning to plan for next year. We are always striving to be better today than yesterday! Let’s go Vikings!

This week our friends at SkillsUSA are staging the National Leadership & Skills Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Back in February, during our CareerEXPO and the SkillsUSA Georgia Championships, we hosted a panel of young men and women who are prospering in construction careers. One of those panelists, Omar Garcia, spoke about his work as a heavy equipment operator and noted that Artificial Intelligence is not “taking your job” in the construction industry. “They might take … restaurant [jobs], things like that, but they’re never taking the [skilled trades] away.”

Omar was speaking as a former SkillsUSA state champion himself, having won the 2025 HEO championship after enrolling in Instructor Horace Kilgore’s program as a senior at East Hall High School.

We salute recent graduates like Omar, along with the construction professionals of tomorrow whose talents are on display in Atlanta this week. While AI applications may assist workers in their respective disciplines, the future remains bright for those who pursue hands-on careers.
