Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade band students. They performed at the OMEA at Capital University last week. The 8th grade band earned a Superior rating for their performance. The 7th grade band earned straight 1s from all the judges (the highest score you can earn) and a Superior rating! Well done students and Mr. Bradshaw!

Our Drama Club gave an outstanding performance last night! They were energetic and hilarious! Drama Club is completely student-led, with Mrs. Hensley and Ms. Grubb as the advisors. Well done cast and crew!

Our Environmental Club helped to clean up the community this morning! Enviro Club is led by 7th grade Science teacher, Cailin Sendelbach-Shelton. All students are always welcome to join!

Our students and families are so generous and kind. We raised over $3,400 (and still counting!) for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Thank you Mrs. Leffler for leading the charge.

Congratulations to Lauren Thomas for winning the “Best in School” award at the recent National History Day competition. Lauren will now move on to the state competition in April. National History Day team is advised by Mr. Cale Garber. Good job Lauren! We are proud of you!

The Power of the Pen team competed in the Regional Tournament this past weekend.

Congratulations to Dalina Houangvilay for earning FIRST PLACE in the 7th grade competition! She earned the Readers’ Garden Independent Bookstore Award. This comes with a four volume library of books by Jason Reynolds, this year’s speaker at the State Tournament, and a private ten minute one-on-one meeting with the author during the State Tournament!

Congratulations to Helen Wood for earning SECOND PLACE in e 8th grade competition. She earned the Director’s Choice Award for a story she wrote in round two.

Power of the Pen is advised by Ms. Libby Grubb and Mrs. Becky Leffler.

Thank you David McCreary for speaking to our students today. David used magic, comedy, and words to ignite our staff and students to “Learn more. Laugh more. Love more” in all that we do.

Student Leadership Team at Gahanna South leads all school events.

We hosted another successful Power of the Pen tournament today. Thank you to Ms. Libby Grubb and Mrs. Becky Leffler for coaching our team as well as organizing the writing competition.

We would also like to thank Mr. Steve Barrett, Mrs. Daphne Moehring, and Gahanna Kiwanis for their support.

Our students showed exceptional focus and dedication over the school year practicing and preparing for this competition. We are proud to share that Jadyn Cohee and Dalina Houangvilay earned special awards. Our entire team should be proud of their efforts. Jadyn and Dalina (and possibly others...waiting to hear final results) will advance to the regional tournament in March.

Power of the Pen is open to all 7th and 8th grade students and is coached by Ms. Grubb and Mrs. Leffler.

‪Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams for earning the highest cumulative GPA of all of the winter sports teams.

The 7th grade group of girls EARNED a cumulative GPA of 3.6 during quarter two. The 8th grade group of girls EARNED a cumulative GPA of 3.7 during quarter two.

[12/17/18]   Congratulations to the Gahanna South students Adrianna Berry, Cassidy Bogart, Xavier Nowakowski, and Aaron Sakwa for their participation in the Robotics VEX competition this weekend. These students, along with West and East students, make up the Gahanna Middle School Robotics Team. They are advised by South Science Teacher, Kristy Mishler and East Science Teacher, Dave Merrick.

We are proud to share that we presented our PBIS story at the Ohio PBIS Showcase today. This is the culmination of the work of many people - not just those in the photo.

We are proud to share that Mrs. Selene Kelley, PE teacher, has been awarded the SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Education) 2019 District Teacher of the Year!

This is quite an honor - to be recognized by her peers as an outstanding professional in her field.

Mrs. Kelley will travel to Florida for the national SHAPE convention where she will be eligible for the National Teacher of the Year award.

Congratulations to our 7th grade Cross Country team for winning the 7th grade Team GPA award for the fall season! This team earned an outstanding cumulative GPA of 3.7 for quarter one (during their season).

Congratulations to the our 8th grade Volleyball team for winning the 8th grade Team GPA award for the fall season! This team earned an outstanding cumulative GPA of 3.7 for quarter one (during their season).

Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team for winning the highest overall cumulative GPA of 3.8!

Our Character Counts Club led a school-wide drive for GRIN. In total, Gahanna South students and staff donated over $1,200 and collected 1,042 items for GRIN!

Character Counts Club is led by Mrs. Owens and Mrs. Leffler. All students are invited to join at any time.
