Attention current 5th grade parents who have students coming to GMSE:
Hello Parents! I know this is a strange time in an unusual year. But, I want to assure you that we at Middle School East really are thinking about your 5th graders and are planning for them to arrive as Middle School students in the fall.
Some of the things that had to be cancelled this spring were the 5th grade student visit as well as the 5th grade parent meeting. These have been the center pieces of our transition plans in years past. So, we have had to come up with some ideas to take the place of those that we have had to cancel.
The middle school counselors sent out some information about transitions and our next event will be a Facebook Live Event at 7 pm on Thursday, May 7. I will be broadcasting from GMSE and will be able to answer some questions live and present information specifically for families coming to East. I hope that you, as parents, and your 5th grade children will be able to 'tune in'!
How to participate:Like our GMSE FB Page today!Tune in Live on 5/7 at 7 pm on the GMSE FB PagePost your questions in the comment section. We will answer as many as we can.Watch the saved video of the event at a later date.Read the comments and our responses. We are excited about this event and my hope is that it helps us all be a little more connected. Please join us and be part of the first ever FB broadcast from GMSE!
Welcome to Middle School East!

Monday is Veterans Day and that is a big day at GMSE. We will have nearly 50 veterans and their families in attendance. We have high expectations of the students during the assembly and they have always lived up to those expectations. We made an announcement to the kids last week about wearing patriotic colors tomorrow. If they couldn't remember here is what I told them:
6th grade wear RED
7th grade wear WHITE
8th grade wear BLUE
You will have to ask your kids about the assembly when they get home. It is my hope that they learn about the sacrifice and the importance of service.
6th grade fun night at Lazer Kraze was amazing!
GMSE students get an introduction to movement and dance from Ballet Met. Thank you Mrs. Harding and the GMSE PTA for setting this all up!

Much fun at the GMSE 7th grade dance last night. This was planned and organized by our students and their passion to help! Kids read “Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie” and were inspired to raise money for families with cancer. Over $1200 was raised and will be donated to NC4K whose motto is ‘no kids fight cancer alone’. This is a charity led by a Gahanna resident benefiting families in Columbus and Cincinnati. Thank you Middle School east for a great evening!
