One School

On the last day of school this May, my sweet young friend grabbed my neck and said “I’m never letting go!” I feel exactly the same, my dear friends 🥹

Even though our school is now closed, we will never let go of the memories, the love, the learning and growing in Jesus together!

It’s hard to believe it’s actually here. After 44 years, One School (previously Gahanna Christian Academy and Evangel Christian Academy) officially closed on June 30.

There are so many people to thank. Thank you to our amazing students, staff, parents, Board and donors, past and present, for creating a place full of Jesus, love, and powerful learning! No matter where you go, you will always be an Eagle and a Spark, ignited by Jesus to change the world.

Thank you to our PTF and President Bianca Williams and VP Tanina Seagraves- your constant leadership and partnership to raise funds and lead volunteers to provide so much for our students and staff was a gift beyond measure! We couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to our Board: Nic Shumaker, Roger Walker, Pastor Michael Young, Kenny R. Hampton, Meka Pace, Theresa Seagraves and our Treasurers: Ryan Hosack and Jared Zirillo. Your wisdom, insight and partnership has been a strong foundation through every moment of every year. And to our extraordinary donors - year after year you provided thousands of dollars to serve our many under-resourced students and set our school on a path of energized and accelerated innovation and impact.

Thank you to Michael Fluhart Sr, Amy Williams, Rob Minch, and all the other private school and early childhood center leaders who rallied to buy our furniture and materials, and gave us hope that our materials would bless another generation of learners and leaders.

To all our moving volunteers, many many thanks! We could never have filled a semi trailer and eight moving trucks and moved thousands of pounds of curriculum and technology without you! You rallied to meet the need and God delivered a miracle through you.

Special thank you to One Church for the collaboration in the sharing of spaces together and allowing us to be on campus with you these last 8 years. We are deeply thankful to Pastor Gene Speich for his vision to create the school and to Ruth Baldwin Bischoff for such great support and encouragement as well as helping us connect to many alumni of the past.

Our school was never the building itself but has always been, and always will be, our community, our family, and our calling to follow Jesus. We would love to stay in touch and plan to host cookouts for reunions in the future. Please email us at [email protected] to stay in touch!

Go Eagles! Go Sparks! It is time. Time to be sent out into all God has next for you! You are ready to change the world.
