We’re looking forward to for our FREE community class to kick off the school year with confidence, learn how to stay safe, meet new friends, and have fun!

Taught by former elementary school teacher and chief instructor, Mrs. McKelvey, these classes promise to be high energy and practical to stand up to bullies and start the school year off with unstoppable confidence.

This is such a great post by Ms. Thompson about why we play dodgeball. It isn’t just a game, it’s way more than that!

Why do we play dodgeball? 🤔

Yes, it is fun!

But it is so much more.
It helps kids:

✅develop good sportsmanship

✅learn to follow rules

✅improve cardio

✅understand the importance of integrity

✅practice a sincere apology

✅use self-control

But one of the biggest reasons we play dodgeball is learning to be okay with getting hit with dodgeballs, which helps them be more comfortable with the contact they experience during sparring.

Why is sparring (students wearing a padded gear while kicking & punching each other) an important part of their training?

To learn how to try to avoid getting hit by a bully, and to defend yourself, you need to practice those skills.

To practice those skills you need someone to try to kick & punch you, and you need to do the same for them.

Not every dodgeball hits softly.
Not every contact in sparring hits lightly.
But then neither do bullies.
