Words cannot express the sadness felt by the students, alumni and friends of the Limestone Honors College tonight. But memories - happy memories - will be with us always. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Honors Bernie forever!

As we hope and pray for Limestone’s and the Honors College’s continued viability, I wanted to reminiscence about our past graduating senior award winners. Long-time HC president Parker Lewis is finishing her first year at Charleston School of Law. After finishing first in his class last year, Josh Strickland is completing his second year of law school at USC. Meanwhile, Heather Burton is about to graduate from USC law school - and will be gainfully employed after she does so! We hope to continue reporting on the success of our Honors College grads for many more years.

It has been my absolute honor to work with such a hard-working, collegial and thoughtful Honors College exec board during AY 24-25 - President Ashlyn Parisck, Vice-President Brooklyn Higginbotham, and Secretary Anna Warring. I HOPE and PRAY that they are not the last exec board I will get to work with - the Honors College is an important part of the Limestone community!🤞🙏

As we await Limestone’s and the Honors College’s fate (thinking positive!), our Honors Capstone students are tuning out the noise and presenting at symposium. First up - Ashlyn Parsick snd Zach Way!

Last Tuesday evening, the Honors College held its annual awards banquet. We honored our seniors, and handed out awards to Janai Brown, Anna Warring, Brooklyn Higginbotham, Abbey Crates and Madelyn Grant. We also honored Dr Alex Richardson, a beloved Honors English prof who is retiring. It was emotional and meaningful for everyone.
I had planned to post the pics on Wednesday - when we found out that Limestone was likely closing or transitioning to an online format. I met some of the Honors kids on Monday as a group, and have met with others individually. I’ve received such wonderful emails and cards from students.
I have no idea what the future brings. But if this financial lifeline comes through, I HOPE and pray that the Honors College will continue as a vital campus community. Whether it does or not- I want everyone to know that’s it’s been the honor of my life being Dean for such a great group of young adults. I thank everyone for their support over the years!❤️

Limestone Honors College students Brooklyn Higginbotham and Madelyn Grant were part of a student panel and facilitated discussion about sexual assault prevention, part of a series of events planned during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Brooklyn is a junior psychology major and Madelyn is a sophomore psychology major.
