Join us next Saturday morning for the Northeast Alabama 4-H Chick Chain show and auction. We will have Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rock, Easter Eggers, Cuckoo Matana, Buff Orpington and more. Showmanship will begin at 11 and the Auction around 2 pm.

If you would like to get your bidder number early, you must call the Etowah County Extension Office before next Friday at 256-547-7936.

Farm to School connects students to local food, farms, and their community!

Through school meals, nutrition education, school gardens, and hands-on learning, students can discover where their food comes from while supporting Alabama farmers and local communities.

Try Farm to School at your school:

Alabama Extension invites you to the third annual Alabama Regenerative Growers Conference. This two-day event—hosted in partnership with Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network and Jones Valley Teaching Farm—focuses on agroecological methods of fruit and vegetable production, with session tracks for both commercial farmers and home/community gardeners. The conference features educational sessions, farm tours, vendors, lunch, and networking: a convergence of commercial and community growers interested in soil health, biodiversity, agroecology, community food resilience, and related topics.

The two day event is $20 and includes a catered lunch by chef Ama Shambulia from A Beautiful Life Enterprises LLC.

There will be a Clean Day pickup on Nov. 3, 2026, in Jackson County. Farmers, pesticide applicators and dealers, Pest Control Operators, and Nurseries in Marshall County can call us at 256-547-7936 for information and to sign up. The sign-up deadline is October 30, 2026.
This program allows you, at no cost, to bring up to 1,000 pounds of unwanted pesticides for safe, environmentally sound disposal.
Materials that WILL be accepted include both known and unidentifiable pesticide waste, such as insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other products such as defoliants, adjuvants and growth retardants.
Products NOT accepted include but are not limited to the following: explosives or ordinance materials, compressed gas cylinders, petroleum products (motor oil), paints, tires, medical waste, radioactive materials, dioxin precursors or seeds.
