🌟 Principal Spotlight: Erika Sullivan 🌟
New Principal, Glencoe Middle School

We are excited to introduce Erika Sullivan as the new Principal of Glencoe Middle School! With 23 years of experience in education, Mrs. Sullivan brings a strong commitment to students, a passion for learning, and a desire to help every student reach their full potential.

Mrs. Sullivan is a graduate of Oxford High School, Jacksonville State University, and the University of West Alabama, where she pursued studies in Collaborative Education, Library Media, and Instructional Leadership. Her diverse educational background has helped prepare her to lead, support, and inspire students and educators.

For Mrs. Sullivan, one of the most rewarding parts of education is watching students learn and succeed. She loves seeing students grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and experience those moments when their hard work pays off. 💙

When she is not at school, Mrs. Sullivan enjoys traveling, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family and her dog.

As she begins this new chapter at Glencoe Middle School, Mrs. Sullivan is looking forward to building strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and the community while helping create a school where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and succeed.

Attention: Elementary Parents Only

To help make school visits safer and easier, we’ll now be using Circool—a simple, secure check-in system trusted by many other local school districts at our elementary schools.
Here’s how it works:
When you visit our schools, show your Circool Pass (QR Code) on your phone to check in at the Self-Service Kiosk in the front office. Select where you’re headed, and your visitor badge will print instantly. It’s quick and easy!
When will I use Circool?
1. Visiting the School: For individual meetings, lunches, etc.
2. Checking your child in or out: Circool helps the school confirm that students are being checked in or out by an approved adult.
3. Attending School Events: School events appear in Circool so you can RSVP and access your event pass before you arrive.
4. Unscheduled early dismissal: If school needs to dismiss early or reunify students with families, Circool helps the school check students out safely, quickly, and accurately.

🌟 Principal Spotlight: Hollie Sewell 🌟
Principal, Gaston Elementary School

Please join us in welcoming Hollie Sewell to her new role as Principal of Gaston Elementary School! With 20 years of experience in education, Mrs. Sewell brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a genuine passion for serving students and teachers.

Her career began at Gaston when it was a K–12 school, where she taught 7th, 8th, and 12th grade English Language Arts. After eight years at Gaston, she continued her teaching career at Hokes Bluff Middle School before earning her Educational Leadership degree from the University of West Alabama in 2020.

Mrs. Sewell began her administrative career in 2021 as Assistant Principal at Pleasant Valley High School. After serving there until 2025, she returned to Etowah County as Assistant Principal at Gaston High School. Now, she is excited to continue serving the Gaston community as Principal of Gaston Elementary School. 💙

What she enjoys most about leadership is supporting teachers and students in whatever way they need, from helping navigate everyday challenges to celebrating important accomplishments. For Mrs. Sewell, leadership is about serving others and creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

She is guided by the words of Maya Angelou: “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Mrs. Sewell believes education is about more than academics; it is about building meaningful relationships and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.

We are excited to see the positive impact Mrs. Sewell will make at Gaston Elementary School and look forward to all that is ahead! 💙

🎉 Sardis City Celebrates a Special Honor! 💜

Sardis Middle and Sardis High School students joined teachers, community and school system leaders, veterans, and special guests for a meaningful celebration recognizing the Town of Sardis City as a Purple Heart City.

The Sardis City Council and Mayor Russell Amos approved a resolution and proclamation recognizing Sardis Drive from Highway 431 to Rosser Road as part of the Purple Heart Trail and officially designating the Town of Sardis City as a Purple Heart City.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Etowah County Commission and Etowah County Engineer Robert Nail, the proper Purple Heart Trail signage has arrived and will soon be installed along the designated route in Sardis City. 💜

The celebration featured remarks from Major General Tim Crosby and special recognition of two Purple Heart veterans, Welton Brooks and Jamie Grant. Their service and sacrifice remind us of the courage and dedication of the men and women who have served our country.

A special thank you to the Sardis High School Band for helping make the occasion even more meaningful by performing the National Anthem. 🎶We are grateful for the time and talent they shared with everyone in attendance.

We also extend our appreciation to all of the special guests, school system leaders, community leaders, veterans, students, teachers, and families who joined us for this important occasion. What a meaningful way to honor those who have sacrificed for our freedom! 💜 ,

Today, we're celebrating Mrs. April Daugherty, principal of Glencoe Elementary School, and her unwavering commitment to the students, staff, families, and community she proudly serves. 💙

After 25 years at Glencoe Elementary School as a teacher, reading specialist, assistant principal, and now principal, Mrs. Daugherty's heart has always been with this incredible school and community. Her dedication and passion for education have made a lasting impact on generations of students.

Mrs. Daugherty looks forward to partnering with Glencoe Elementary's outstanding students, families, faculty, and staff as they continue working together to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
