Thursday, September 17 is a double-dose of South Lakes spirit! 💙

Start your evening at Curriculum Night at South Lakes Elementary to connect with our amazing teachers and staff, then head over to Dairy Queen for our FIRST Spirit Night of the school year!

Or flip it! Grab a Blizzard at DQ first, then make your way to Curriculum Night. Either way, we’d love to see our Sea Turtle families supporting SLES twice in one night! 🐢

Today is the big day for our 1st–5th graders, and we’re so excited to welcome our SLES families back for another great year at the Lake! 💙🧡💚

And the fun is just getting started! A very special welcome to all of our new Pre-K and Kindergarten Sea Turtles who will be joining us throughout the week. We can’t wait to officially welcome you to the South Lakes family!

To kick off the year, we’re sharing the first edition of The Loggerhead, our SLES PTA newsletter! Inside you’ll find important upcoming dates, ways to get involved, PTA news, and a few things to keep on your radar as we dive into the 2026–27 school year.

📚 Meet the Teacher is THIS THURSDAY! 🍎✏️

South Lakes families, we can’t wait to welcome our 1st–5th grade students back to the lake!

Join us Thursday, August 20th at 6 PM to meet your teacher, find your classroom, and get ready for a great new school year. 🧡💚💙

🎒 Quick parent tip: Feel free to bring your student’s school supplies with you! Dropping them off Thursday night means a much lighter backpack (and one less thing to juggle!) on the first day of school.

Reminder to swim on by the PTA table to learn how you can make a difference this school year, we have it on good authority there may be prizes (first come first serve) for new members who join the PTA on the spot. 🐢🧡💚💙

🚨 We have BIG plans this year… but we’re missing one important thing: YOU. 💙🐢

A great school year doesn’t just happen—it happens because parents, grandparents, teachers, and community members come together to make it special.

The South Lakes Elementary PTA has so many exciting events and programs planned, but we need more volunteers and PTA members to make it all happen. Whether you have an hour a month, want to help at a single event, or are looking for a committee to join, there’s a place for everyone at the lake!
