In all, 24 middle and high school students participated in this intensive and holistic entrepreneurship program that consisted of 3 Friday evening workshops (6 hours of dynamic and interactive workshops), and a fourth weekend consisting of a 18 hour Challenge Weekend. Participants learned about the various skill sets, mindset, and mechanics that all successful entrepreneurs possess, and regardless of whether they participated in the Challenge Weekend, each participant now has a better understanding on what it takes to become the entrepreneur they dream to be.

Entrepreneurship is both challenging and incredibly rewarding, and our Challenge Weekend (March 23-24th) enabled 8 aspiring entrepreneurs to take their ideas and launch them to an audience from the Greater Fuquay-Varina area.

ABOUT THE FUQUAY-VARINA STARTUP CHALLENGE:
The Fuquay-Varina Startup Challenge is a (4) week startup development program designed to support and nurture aspiring entrepreneurs at the middle and high school levels, and is a collaboration between Fuquay Coworking, Empowered Ideas, and the Fuquay Varina Middle School (FVMS) and Fuquay-Varina High School (FVHS). The initiative is a collaboration between local businesses, schools, nonprofits, and young leaders in the community — and is supported by a grant from the office of Tamara Barringer (NC Senate, District 17) through the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce.
ABOUT THE R.I.S.E. YOUNG ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM:
R.I.S.E. (Resilient & Innovative Student Entrepreneurs) is a program developed by Empowered Ideas and Fuquay Coworking of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and is designed to support and nurture aspiring (and existing) entrepreneurs at the middle and high school levels. Originally developed to assist Youth Prevention Clubs across the country addressing substance abuse/misuse prevention, su***de prevention, and anti-bullying initiatives – it has since grown to support youth leaders venturing into nonprofit and entrepreneurial projects. The program consists of seminars, unique youth-focused events, and strategic planning workshops.
