Today, we want to recognize one of our Community Safety Partners, Midwest Collision, Fulton IL.

Support from local businesses like Midwest Collision allows Bobby’s Crash Foundation to continue our mission, reach more young drivers, and bring real-world conversations about choices, consequences, and roadway safety directly to students in our communities.

Midwest Collision owner Dan Bennett knows all too well how devastating serious crashes can be. Dan has been towing vehicles for nearly 30 years and, like so many tow operators, has seen firsthand what is left behind after a serious crash. Tow operators are often among those who see the aftermath up close and understand just how quickly one moment on the road can change the lives of individuals, families, and entire communities.

Dan and Midwest Collision have supported us from the very beginning. From kind words and encouragement during those first difficult days while Brennen was in the ICU, to now supporting Bobby’s Crash Foundation and the mission that grew from that experience, their support has meant more than we can put into words.

A huge thank you to Dan, his family and everyone at Midwest Collision for believing in what we are doing and for becoming a Community Safety Partner.

Today we close out our time at the Whiteside County Fair.

Over the past several days, we have had the opportunity to speak with families and individuals from all around the area about decision-making behind the wheel, the choices we make, and how one decision can impact not only an individual, but an entire family and community.

Nick and Brennen were able to be at the fair for much of the week, but when we could not be there, our friends with the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office stepped in to help keep our display available and our message moving forward. We cannot say enough about the support we continue to receive from our area law enforcement partners. Members of the Fulton Police Department and Morrison Police Department (IL) also stopped by and showed their support throughout the fair. These partnerships mean a great deal to us as we continue working toward our mission of helping prevent the choices and circumstances that can lead to unimaginable tragedy on our roadways.

One conversation this week, however, reminded us just how far the impact of a single crash can reach.

A woman named Michele stopped and spoke with Nick and later with Brennen. Michele is the mother of the second person who came across Brennen’s crash that night. We were able to talk about what her son witnessed, the actions he took, and the impact that night has had on him as well. In the coming week, we hope to meet with him personally and finally have the opportunity to thank him for what he did for Brennen that night.

It was a powerful reminder that a crash does not end with the people inside the vehicle. It affects the families, first responders, medical providers, witnesses, friends, and sometimes complete strangers who find themselves forever connected by a single moment.

That is exactly why we continue sharing this story.

Thank you to everyone who stopped, talked with us, asked questions, shared their own experiences, or simply took a few minutes to listen. Every conversation helps move this message forward to another young driver, another parent, another family, and another person who may think differently the next time they get behind the wheel.

And thank you to the Whiteside County Fair for giving Bobby’s Crash Foundation the opportunity to be part of this year’s fair.

Tonight we had the privilege of joining the Village of Erie Police Department for their National Night Out event. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, shared your own stories, and spent time with us.

One thing that made tonight especially meaningful was that Brennen wasn’t with us. Not because he couldn’t be……but because he was busy… working. It feels good to finally be able to say that. After everything our family has been through over the last year, seeing him back to living life, building his future, and “adulting” is something we will never take for granted.

Throughout the evening, we had conversations with teenagers about making good decisions behind the wheel. We talked with the littles about wearing their bike helmets, always buckling up, and making safe choices every day. We also spent time with parents, grandparents, and community members sharing our family’s story and how one decision on one night changed the lives of so many people, not just ours.

One thing we’ve learned through this journey is that a serious crash doesn’t just affect the person involved. It reaches parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, first responders, medical staff, coworkers, classmates, and entire communities. The ripple effect is something most people never realize until they’ve lived it.

We were also reminded tonight how blessed we are to have so many people standing beside us. Family isn’t always defined by blood. We were surrounded by both relatives and friends who have become family throughout this journey, and their support continues to make our mission possible.

We were proud to have members of our Board of Directors with us tonight, including Board President Nate Petersen, Vice President Dwayne Hamilton, and Board Member Amanda Champion and her family. We are grateful for their their commitment to move this organization forward.

Every event, every conversation, and every young person who walks away thinking twice before making a risky decision is another step toward our goal.

Thank you again to the Village of Erie Police Department for inviting us to be part of such a great community event. We look forward to continuing to share our story, educate young drivers, and hopefully prevent another family from experiencing what ours did.

🎉 We are officially approved! 🎉

Bobby’s Crash Foundation is now registered in good standing with the State of Illinois and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Illinois State Representative Ryan Spain for his assistance in helping move our application forward. After months of waiting, we reached out to Representative Spain’s office for help and within one week, this major hurdle was accomplished.

This approval allows us to begin taking the next important steps, including accepting donations, pursuing grant opportunities, and building the resources needed to move our mission forward.

We are incredibly grateful to Representative Spain, his staff, and everyone who has supported us throughout this process. This milestone brings us one step closer to reaching more young drivers, families, schools, and communities with a message that can save lives.

A Summer Update from Bobby’s Crash Foundation

It has been a slower summer for us as we continue working behind the scenes, learning, planning, and figuring out the next steps for Bobby’s Crash Foundation. Even though things may appear quiet, progress is still being made.

Back in the spring, we received our official 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS, officially recognizing Bobby’s Crash Foundation as a nonprofit organization. This was a major accomplishment and an important step forward for our mission.

We are still waiting for approval from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office before we can fully move forward with fundraising and accepting donations to support our programs. With some hopeful assistance from our Illinois State Representatives and Senator, we hope to get the process moving and finally clear this last major hurdle.

In the meantime, we have been working on new handouts, printed educational materials, and several large posters that will be displayed alongside the crash vehicle. These materials will help us better share Brennen’s story and encourage teens, young adults, parents, and community members to think about how one decision behind the wheel can change everything.

We also have several upcoming appearances planned:

🚔 Village of Erie Police Department National Night Out — August 4th

🎡 Whiteside County Fair in Morrison — August 18–22

🚘 Hopefully (if schedules allow), the Amboy Depot Days Car Show — August 30

The crash vehicle will be on display throughout the Whiteside County Fair. Because the fair falls during back-to-school week and our regular work schedules, there may not always be someone present to speak with visitors. However, the vehicle and posters will still be available for everyone to view.

We are incredibly grateful for the encouragement, partnerships, and support we have received so far. We hope to continue growing Bobby’s Crash Foundation over the coming months and reaching even more young drivers and families with this important message.

One decision can change everything. Please slow down, put the phone away, buckle up, and make it home safely.

Moments Worth Living For. ❤️

This is why we do what we do.

A simple weekend at a softball tournament. Watching a little sister compete. Spending time with Grandma. Sharing laughs, making memories, and cheering from the sidelines.

A year ago, we didn’t know if moments like these would ever happen again.

When we talk about wearing your seat belt, slowing down, and making smart decisions behind the wheel, it isn’t just about preventing a crash. It’s about protecting the moments that come after. The birthdays. The ballgames. The family photos. The ordinary days that become the most meaningful.

Brennen has fought incredibly hard to get where he is today. Every family isn’t given that opportunity, and we never forget how blessed we are.

If our story encourages just one person to buckle up, put the phone away, or slow down before it’s too late, then we’re honoring the second chance we’ve been given.

These are the moments worth living for. ❤️

These photos are not shared for shock value.

They are shared because this is what one crash left behind.

Some of these scars came from the crash. Some came from the fight to save Brennen’s life. Some are reminders of the seat belt that helped give him a chance to survive.

According to NHTSA, seat belts reduce the risk of fatal injury to front-seat passenger car occupants by 45%.

That does not mean a seat belt will prevent every injury. It does mean that buckling up can be the difference between a family planning a recovery and a family planning a funeral.

Brennen’s crash is a reminder that life can change in an instant. Slow down. Put the phone away. Wear your seat belt. Speak up if you do not feel safe.

The scars are permanent. The lesson should be too.

Make good choices this week. Protect your people.

Today we attended our first car show with the 1999 Ford Mustang GT that changed our lives forever as part of the Morrison Fire Department 150th Anniversary celebration.

Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, share Bobby’s story, and talk with several young people about how one decision can change lives in an instant.

The Mustang is more than just a car to us. It’s a reminder of loss, consequences, second chances, and why we continue to have these difficult conversations.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to listen, ask questions, and support our mission. If our story makes even one person slow down, buckle up, or think twice before making a risky choice behind the wheel, then it’s worth sharing.

Thank you, Morrison Fire Department, for including us in such a special event.

While full 2025 crash data is not available yet, the numbers we do have from Clinton County are a stark reminder of how quickly things can change.

From 2020–2024, Clinton County, Iowa recorded 30 traffic fatalities. That number represents more than a statistic. It represents families, friends, coworkers, classmates, first responders, and entire communities impacted by lives lost on our roads.

On September 28, 2025, Brennen’s crash happened in Clinton County. In one instant, everything changed for him and for our family. We are grateful he survived, but his story is a powerful reminder that safe choices behind the wheel matter every single time we drive.

As we head into the weekend, Bobby’s Crash Foundation stands with our Clinton County area law enforcement partners, including the Clinton Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff's Office Iowa, Camanche Police Department, Dewitt Iowa Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol, in encouraging everyone to make smart, safe, and responsible decisions behind the wheel.

Slow down. Put the phone away. Buckle up. Drive sober. Look out for each other.

To the families who have lost loved ones on our roads, we know these numbers are not just numbers. They are people. They are stories. They are lives that mattered. Our goal is to honor those lives by helping prevent another family from receiving the call no one ever wants.

The goal is not 30 fatalities. The goal is zero.

Real Stories. Real Consequences. Real Change.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their sacrifice should never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

As everyone heads out to enjoy the weather, travel to BBQs, and spend time with family and friends, please remember to make safe choices behind the wheel.

Bobby has spoken many times about the reckless decision he made that day and the danger it created not only for himself, but for every other person on the road around him. He owns those choices and understands just how serious the consequences could have been.

So this weekend, and every day:
• Slow down
• Put the cell phone down
• Wear your seat belt

The goal is simple…….make it home safely to the people who love you. Every single day.
