Through these awards, we celebrate the best writing by Westminster College English Department majors and minors in genres that alternate from year to year. Yesterday at our end-of-year gathering, we announced this year's award-winners: Emelia Hilse, Charlotte Kurtz, & Vera Fosnow!

Thanks to The Missouri Review associate editor Ellen Orner for spending time on campus with Professor Jeremy Reed & his publishing students! The class has been busy learning the ins and outs of literary publishing and putting the finishing touches on the next issue of Janus Literary Magazine - everyone learned so much talking to a working editor in person!

It's Churchill Day here at Westminster College MO & we've been studying the "Sinews of Peace" speech in academic writing classes this week! If you didn't know, Winston Churchill and then-President Harry Truman came to Westminster 80 years ago today for Churchill to speak on the beginnings of the Cold War as part of our campus' Green Lecture Series which has featured speakers ranging from Ronald Reagan to Mikhail Gorbachev, Margaret Thatcher, and Madeleine Albright, and which continues to this day. To see drafts of his speech, learn about Churchill's life, and take part in all the celebrations, visit America's National Churchill Museum on our campus this week!
