It is with great sadness that the FTA shares news of the passing of our friend and colleague, Carmella Warner. Carm was a longtime member of the FTA who retired in 1986 from the staff of Fairgrieve Elementary School as its School Nurse Teacher. She is remembered for her warm personality, sense of humor and love for her students. Deepest sympathies are extended to her family and friends, especially her daughter Tonigail Schurr, her son and former FTA Member John "Jay" Warner, as well as her son Tom Warner. Rest in peace, Carm!

: At this year’s AFT Convention, NYSUT member Martha Strever was honored with the AFT Lifetime Achievement Award for an unprecedented 65-year career in the classroom.

Some of you may recognize Martha who was highlighted by our team in 2024 as she celebrated 64 years with the Red Hook Central School district, making her the longest in-service member ever.

It is with great sadness that the FTA shares news of the passing of our friend and colleague, Jan Tripoli. Jan was a member of the math department at G. Ray Bodley High School who retired from the Fulton School District in 2022. We extend deepest sympathies to Jan's husband Philip, as well as her family and friends. Rest in peace, Jan.
