In addition to our Masters of Science program in Environmental Studies, we are thrilled to be part of a new undergraduate minor in Environmental Studies hosted by .environment and visible in the new CSUF catalog. For this new minor, students take courses in environmental science, the politics & economics of sustainability, social & cultural perspectives on sustainability, and a capstone experience in sustainability. It’s 12 units, drawing on classes you may have already taken for GE. Know any undergrads interested in adding this minor? Reach out to Prof. Zia Salim!

Last spring, ENST student Andrea Hoppe brought avocados from her yard to share with classmates. Prof. Elaine rooted one pit and it is now a flourishing young avocado tree in her yard and a perfect symbol of our program. Congratulations to the class of 2026! We can’t wait to see where you root and bloom. We know the seeds of our program are planted in you and will flourish.

🌟Our very own HSS students received the First place Tom McKnight Graduate Paper Award🌟
Cameron Edwards (GEOG) and Edleen Suh (ENST) coauthored a paper presentation at the recent annual conference of the California Geographical Society, which brought together students and faculty from UC, CSU, and community colleges across the state.
Cameron and Edleen’s research on experiential learning in biogeography focused on an educational intervention for students who were completing a lab in our amazing Fullerton Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
